I loved that series...everything about it... costumes, scenery, actors, story,....
Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

Very strong cold wind today. Looking at the positive side, it dried the roads off while not freezing the rain solidly on them. I was expecting a treacherous drive home from work.

SIL and I will run the birdcam video wire thru conduit so the garden helper wont cut it again. What a pain.
We are having a small window of melting snow and moderate temps.

99.9% of our snow melted when the overnight temp on Monday morning got up to 54°f. Bird feeder got filled and birdbath got cleaned and refilled. Taking Christmas decorations to the shed.

I'm still working on my raised beds I've got three almost done I have to cut the 2×4 tops and I still have to build two more. They are 8 foot long 4 foot wide 15 inches deep on the high side 20 inches deep on the low side. All of the lumber I'm using is recycled from a house I tore down a couple of years ago. Not sure where I'm going to find the money to buy all the dirt is going to take to fill those Whistling

That sounds good, and if you have critters there, it'll keep them from the buffet.

I have a cheap solution to filling these beds with "soil." Use the lasagna method. Start with cardboard from scrounged boxes. Then later with lawnmower shredded leaves, layers of wet newspapers, free coffee grounds from local Starbucks, more shredded leaves, any other kind of nitrogen rich waste such as chicken manure that I get free from hobbyist. All this is free. Layer it good and high and let the winter rain do its job breaking it down. You can plant into it after 2-3 months even if not all is broken down; it's like raising your seedlings in a compost pile and it works great.

Today I finally finished building my raised beds. Although I still might build one more I haven't decided yet. I'm still waiting for one of my friends to bring me a load of wood chips to put around the beds. @SCButtercup thanks for the suggestion on the lasagna Garden but I don't think I can get enough raw materials to fill those and it would probably take me a little too long I'm hoping to have them filled by Spring. I do have a big pile of good topsoil although it's not ideal for raised beds I figured it's going to have to work I'll probably buy a truckload of compost mixed with it and I already have a big pile of potting soil to mix in too

Thanks Mike. Considering I have zero building skills and the tree house is still standing. I guess I did something right.

I learned really quick after living on this hill that you have to use a level things may look straight but aren't they actually have to look crooked in order to be straigh. Take a look at these beehives I installed last spring they are perfectly level.

That's what it is. When I took the picture they looked straight until I looked at the picture. I showed one of my friends and he asked me if I had them crooked for drainage Hilarious!

Today the only thing I did outside was to shovel the 9 inches of wet snow that fell. I also got to cross something off my bucket list. It was this snowman that I made. I think he turned out pretty good given the short amount of time spent on him.

I just ordered 26 different flower seed packets. Can't wait to get them and winter sow some of them. I sure hope I have luck getting at least one of each to grow. Hurry up spring!!
