I just tree-mailed Susie this: "Inky was bad yesterday. He ignored 'lot line', went outside of the bushline, and tried to cross the road. Squeeling tires...and neighbors running out. I had to 'punish' him (which I have never done). I can't think of a reason he would go beyond 'lot line' and into the street without leash; he never has before."

Please have Cadbury invite him to the woods, it's lots safer than the street!

That is very weird! Crossing the road ..... bizarre. Be safe doggies! Inky needs to think about his mistake for awhile. I hear it's a good idea to be quiet and let them sleep.... they dream over and over about things that impress them. The Poodles are smart and can learn quickly. But, instinct, impulse is compelling... for any of us!

Well, I don't train. I discuss (and that usually works). This was the first time ever he has gotten 'punished'. We put the leash on and walked the (his) lot line. We stopped every 20' or so and I said (very loud and angry like). "LOT LINE" and swatted his butt (lightly but enough to make my point). We did the entire lot 3 times, same repeat. He came in and was very contemplative. He has not offended again and is really complying with our 'if the doors are open check in with me every 10 minutes agreement'.

The neighbors and I decided that there is a relatively new female over in the subdivision who may be in heat. Poor little guy .... he has a sniffer arf-ter all.

WOW....I am impressed!

Becky...have you ever been around a standard poodle?

I need to go pick up Becky and bring her back to my house so she can meet Lexie. I think she met Bert couple years ago... he's been gone for 15 months Becky and I lost our doggies just a month or two apart.

They do speak human language and can read our minds. They reason and calculate.

Lexie says "hi, Inky".... she's napping. The heat is horrid so she's napping on the cool tile floor.

Next week she goes a la spa!!!!
