This is one of the mysterious dust filled ones. So when I saw it would not really fit in my window box I took a hammer to the sides. I tell you what, these critters are strong despite my dusty middle. I had to really put some muscle behind that hammer. It should last long enough to enjoy it and I am really looking forward to planting it come spring.

Me Too!!!!! It is very frustrating right now. I hear spring time birds outside, frogs mating, and everything in the garden is starting to bud. Everything is confused and thinks it is spring. Not a good thing. Wish I could just enjoy our record breaking heat, but instead I am really worried about tender new growth that will be flash fried in the next few weeks. My garden and birds did not get the memo that it is still winter Blinking The poor bees have waken to no flowers. Crying I am even seeing butterflies? I am looking at no peaches this year if this keeps up. My friend says global warming because of humans. I had to remind him that the climate on other planets around us are changing as well. Funny how the elected will even use cosmic forces to make a buck Rolling my eyes. Sorry, my rant for the day.

It reached the low 60's here today, so I understand what you are saying Audrey.

I'm with Chris, can't wait to see that container planted.

Can someone please tell me if this thread has moved to a new thread for 2015? I just finished reading all 24 pages and will be giving these pots a try as soon as our weather warms up.

Please disregard this. I just found the new thread so I will be posting to that thread.

Jeanne,
Someone will come along soon, I am sure. The people I know who have done this are not posting right now.

Jeanne, what new thread are you referring to? I have been making these, but had to stop due to the cold weather. I will be starting again soon. They are a lot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

The thread I went to was Let's ROCK 2015 with our Containers 'Container Gardener's. I also got a reply there saying that people would be going back to this thread, 'Cloth and Cement', when they started making them again. So I will just be patient and will continue planning what mine will be like. I have a lot of old towels and blankets I can use. Can't wait to get started but have to wait for the weather to warm up. Can't wait to see your new ones. Your last one is fantastic. Can't wait to see it planted.

Just yesterday I was thinking I needed to go buy a bag of cement. I made a new planting bed from an old kiddie pool. Cut most of the bottom out & filled it with dirt. My plan is to cover the sides with the towels so it looks like a cement wall. Will cut towels length wise and then drape over the top edge & let them hang to the ground. Of course, after I filled the bed with dirt I thought if I had left it empty I could have removed the pool form and used it again. Oh well. Maybe by the time I'm done, 1 will be enough.

But, before I can start making anything I need to get the veg garden planted!!!!!

Yep, planning all the materials is the hard part. The actual doing is the fun and easy part. I have not planted up the window box planter yet, but will post it when I do. It looks like our freezes are over for the year and temps are beginning to stay over 50 at night Hurray!

I agree! I had thought about doing something similar with a large cattle bucket that was given to me to put a lotus in. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Hi all,
I stumbled across this while searching for a "recipe" to make the cloth draped pots. I, like so many others, am totally inspired. David you are truly a master. Headed to HD tomorrow to get cement. Wish me luck, hope the temps hold out for the weekend, it is Ohio...but I can't wait.

I would say - way too cold & probably too dry. These are "easiest" to do when there is some humidity. Without humidity, you will have to spray to keep them from drying too quickly. And they do drip, so you will need to cover the garage floor.
