Beautiful rose, Kyla! Pretty peachy color! I'm finding these cooler days are good for reblooms, including the roses.

This morning:

1) Salvia 'New Dimension Rose' rebloom
2) View of my 'square shaped' garden bed
3) Thought I'd try to get a less washed out looking photo of my Anemone. only partially successful.
Thumb of 2014-08-24/Catmint20906/cf55e4

1) Liriope muscari in full bloom
2) Helenium autumnale in full bloom
Thumb of 2014-08-24/Catmint20906/dbbb45

1) Vietnamese coriander has grown quite large
2) Another try to get a less washed out photo of my phlox rebloom

A moment of delight today. I was shearing some grass seedheads next to one area of the sunny bed, because if they just get mowed guess where they'll all go? Green Grin!

As I was doing this, I notice the little lavender plant which I had moved from the front earlier in the summer, because it was doing so poorly out there, has started to bloom!!!!!!!

Woot!

Thumb of 2014-08-24/kylaluaz/76b1d5

Of course, you can see it better in person. I fiddled with the color on this more than I like to, so it would show some of the glints of purple. There are buds all over that one stem.

Hurray!

Me too. I want much more of it.

I also saw our Monarch again today, but it was a brief visit and over before I could grab the camera.

Stopped at one of my favorite nurseries this afternoon while DD was at volleyball. The section with Agastache and Caryopteris was a happening place, humming and buzzing with pollinator delight. Got a few photos.
1) Cultivar whose name I did not note, with Silver-spotted Skipper and bee
2) Caryopteris 'Dark Knight'--need to put this one on my wish list!
3) Agastache 'Kudos Silver Blue'--covered in bees going 'nom nom nom'!

Of course, the 'Kudos Silver Blue' had to come home with me. One of the bees clung eagerly to its bloom halfway to the cash register. Then, before I had even planted it, the bees were hopping on and sipping. I actually had to plant with caution due to the excited buzz around me! Quite an experience! :-D But here it is in its new spot next to the Coreopsis 'Red Satin.'

Wow! That's so awesome!

I also had a successful shopping trip though less spectacular. I went to a local healthfood store for a few items and there was a table of organic herbs in 4 inch pots outside, and the prettiest Roman chamomile!

I only had enough cash to buy one but, it's a start. Organic certified so no need to worry about "where it's been."

And the cashier didn't know how much they were and undercharged me, I'm sure. 2.49. Sounds good to me!

Thumbs up

Love the Dazzleberry and Angelina combo, Typ! Thumbs up

Hope you guys had a nice time at Williamsburg. DD and I went there several years in a row and really loved it. I don't remember the pretty gardens, though! Smiling

Beautiful, Typ, and what a lovely little girl -- your daughter? She sets off the flowers so nicely. Green Grin!

Ah, more big projects have sprouted in my brain. I may get some of them done today; if so I will report back.

And yes that chamomile foliage is wonderful stuff, Catmint. I must have more!

Thanks! Yes, that's my daughter, Adele. She's about to turn 3. She doesn't smile much for pictures, so most of my shots of her are candid. I have a huge backlog of pictures to sort/edit. I'm slowly going through them and I will add more pictures from my own garden soon!

I can't believe that this coming weekend is Labor Day Weekend. The summer is going by too fast! I need to get out there and start thinking about any major upgrades that I want to get done before next year. Fall is my favorite time to work in the garden.

She, Adele, truly is beautiful, and IMO candid shots are best. Those are some very nice portraits.

I agree about fall. It feels like fall here, or the beginning of fall, and I am on my way out the door right now!

Rolling my eyes.

Thanks, Kyla!

Catmint, This is our second time there (once for my wedding anniversary in January), but first time with the kids and in summer. I think they are a little young to appreciate the history. I'm not really "into" history, but my husband is so I tag along. I really had to search out the gardens. They aren't labeled on any maps, and it's hard to tell which yards are private and which are okay for tourists to enter. I probably missed some gardens. Since we have a membership to Longwood Gardens this year, maybe my expectations were a little high for the colonial town? I was generally underwhelmed by the flowers at Williamsburg. I think the staff could have done much better. Shrug!

When we were there, gardens were not on our minds. Would be interesting to go back again and look at it from that perspective. I wonder to what extent have they done the work of reconstructing some 18th century gardens? Looks like they've done some research in that direction. http://www.history.org/almanac...

Well, back to my 21st century backyard... Took just 2 photos this morning on my garden walkaround.

1) The blooms on my bean plant, which are a pretty lavender
2) My Lobelia cardinalis which is really going to town these days

Very nice! Catmint.

I got involved in le project, and overdid a little -- well, I kept doing after, was the problem. But I'm about recovered almost now.

I took pictures as I went and wrote it up as an article so not sure if it's kosher to share any of the pictures here?

While I was involved with that, the Monarch was busy nectaring here and there. I wish there were more! but next year there will be. And also a hummingbird visited some of the glass ornaments my cousin has hanging around. No nectar there, sorry! And no pictures of either, because I was otherwise engaged.

Green Grin!

But, here's another picture of Hannah's corner. It is so hard to photograph! both because of the light and also the deep curve of the bed. Nearly every one of the daylilies I ordered has started to show new growth, and one was even munched by something! I sprayed it with a bit of soapy water in hopes that will discourage further munching and it will recover. I think it will.
