Not as many as you would think, Marilyn ! Taking last year as an example....16 of the iris I bought were 'test plants" for NOIDs in my collection, I guessed right in 11 of the "tests', so instead of adding 16 it is, I really only added 5 'different' ones ( but I DID have twice as many of others...and they found their name, too !). I also bought two cultivars from 3 different vendors, as a "test" of ID....all 6 iris plants were the same....they were just being sold under 2 different names !...so I'd bought 6, but really only added one to the "collection"! One vendor checked the pics I sent them, and the info I 'pointed" them to, and agreed with me that they had made an error in selling that iris under a "false" name . They also even contacted some of their customers who had purchased the "wrong" iris, and explained the situation to them! At any rate, the collection doesn't grow as fast as one thinks ! This year, I had a few "senior" moments, and actually ordered the same iris from 2 different vendors....not realizing I was doing it ! :tongue_smilie:. That doesn't happen TOO often...at least so far ! Rolling on the floor laughing ............Arlyn

Good for that vendor to make corrections with other people. It shows that they are trying to be reliable.

Next year I will refrain from feeling stupid for ordering way to many irises. I have thought that I will limit the numbers of older varieties next year and consentrate on getting a few more newer models. Unless I change my mind! Rolling on the floor laughing When we stick to our guns and don't order many, we just feel like we have missed out when the ordering deadlines come. nodding

Hypothetically which ones? If you were to do that, of course.

Well Tom, they are reality now and became 5: I Wuv Woses, Elvis Dreamer, Stolen Identity, Have A Good'un, and Sensationalizer. All with horns, flounces, big fat beards.... and supposed to all be good growers as well. Now where to put them!

Barbara: Beautiful pic of Starring!

Oops -- I may have theoretically made a similar mistake................ Whistling

I wondered if that was Starring. I don't remember mine having the patch of purple on the nearly black falls. Gonna have to go look in my photo library. It's a really beautiful Iris -- and also avatar!!! Lovey dubby

So which ones are you theoretically getting Mary Ann? Not a certain red one from Wild Iris Rows by any chance?

Great, what's you revised total now? Leslie.
I got one called Canary Feathers this year that is supposed to have large flounces. We'll see, many times they just have horns here, I've never had one get the full fledged flounce.

Starring is one nice iris, but it has taken it 5 years to get two bloom stalks at one time for me, and has only bloomed every other year here. I would love it to be a nice clump some day. I tried crossing it with Gypsy Lord, and couldn't get it to take.

May Ann, YOU have oredered some irises, theoretically speaking of course???? Hurray! Hurray!

Theoretically, I may have ordered one or two. And if I had, a certain red one by name of Gerry Atwell might very well have been theoretically included in that theoretical order. Theoretically from Wild Iris Rows. Along with Grecian Skies, BelEspirit, Bold Expression and Money In Your Pocket. Only theoreticaly, of course. Whistling *Blush* Green Grin!

I crossed it with Midnight Treat ( Midnight Treat x Starring) this last spring, seeds are in the refrigerator now. Can't wait to see what happens in a few years.

I knew it Mary Ann! I decided to wait until next year for Gerry Atwell, because I also want to add Intrepid Hunter from Greg and Burseen's Osay Canuc. : Nice choices! Hurray!

I used Starring as the pollen parent, Not as a pod parent. Maybe next year I'll try it the other way around.

Leslie, once you'r Messed up, the paddy wagon is only a small step up!!!!

Mary Ann, I'll be interested in how the look Theoretically in your garden next year!
