Sherry - yes, all iris count. I put my Japanese and Species Cross in the count. I did not count each separate rhizome (such as 4 Bright Hours from Mary Ann), just each new cultivar. Since I got often got doubles and triples sent in postage boxes & by vendors I hope I don't have to go out and actually count all the rhizomes planted!

A Group hug to all of you. Since I first became a member of ATP, and THE Iris Forum, you have all been kind, informative, extremely generous, extremely enabling, and well, also wacky, and a real hoot to share the love of iris with on a daily basis. Thanks all! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

You're right Leslie, count new cultivars only, not rhizomes, and you're right about this group. We wouldn't know each other probably if we were all in the same room, but we still are a close bunch with irises in common.

I bought regards and baby blue marine this summer Jan but I may not get a bloom next year as we are sooooo dry. The new ones are stressed. If I get any more this year I am planting in pots like you are doing.

429 Rhizomes planted
In my defense, there are 16 of these plants that are 'duplicates" for me, and are just being grown "for increase', and will eventually find their way to the HIPS sale. I do have one commercial order to come, and 2 "for postage", and I will be getting a large box of noids (25, or so) this weekend...these are all plants that I am "testing' against my known cultivars....but, the way I understand Tom's rules...if I plant 'em, I gotta' count 'em ! I was planning to order ,and plant some more i'reticulatae this fall .......planning on 4 cultivars, 25 bulbs each....I'll need a ruling from the judges on THAT deal !

Which reminds me that I didn't include 5 NOID's in my count but I'm still in the Paddy Wagon!

The count includes each cultivar if known, so if you plant 24 Gypsy Lord rhizomes, it counts as 1 cultivar. If you plant 50 of one cultivar of i'reticulatae it counts as 1 new cultivar, If you already have one of something, and you get some more they don't count, as we are counting new cultivars. In other words, I had Noble Gesture, but wanted to make my clump bigger. I ordered one, my cultivar count hasn't changed, so it's not included in my count. Each different NOID counts as one, but I got 3 rhizomes of the SAME NOID from Debra, so that counts as one.
