Hello annectoo Welcome! Sometimes the older bulbs will just follow the regular Spring time bloom season after the previous finishing initial forced bloom cycle.

The 3rd flower is opening:
Thumb of 2015-01-07/fiat/a23174

And yet, the 1st flower is starting to wither! Wonder if this is abnormal that before the last flower opens (on the same stalk), some earlier flowers may already wither and gone? I don't see this happening in supplier's pic:
Thumb of 2015-01-07/fiat/4c1638
Any idea?

Occasionally you can lose the first flower before all the buds have opened. Its a bit of a disappointment but it happens, and you did get a nice bloom time out of the first bud. If you look closely at the suppler's photo, there are at least two, possibly three different bulbs in that picture. The way the photo is staged, I can't tell if any spent blooms have been removed.

Thanks for the info, Barbara. Just wonder could it be lack of nutrition, light, or warmness that cause early gone bloom and not very vibrant colors (compare to supplier's and especially the 3rd flower)? Or maybe even too warm?

It is normal Fiat, as Barbara said, just the way it is sometimes. Typically I get mine to bloom in sequence first two opposites, then next two opposites. By the time the last two are in full bloom, the very first bloom is on its fade away. It takes a lot of energy for the plant to keep them all. Just enjoy the show which lasts about 2 weeks, that is how it goes with mine.

Your Samba is coming up soon, so your bloom show continues woohoo!

Thanks for lifting up my mind, Tarev. Guess I paid too much attention and concern to this very first Amaryllis growing experience. Hope to be able to relax a bit and enjoy the next bloom show. (still keeping all records of the process nodding )

Nice! Hey Fiat...sometimes the bulb will also send a 2nd bloom stalk..who knows your Peacock may still have much more in store for you later Big Grin It may do it just as the first bloom stalk has finished all the blooms.

Fiat, I have three new bulbs that have an odd number of buds on their scapes. Both of Rebecca's scapes have 5 buds. However this is a smaller flower cultivar, and often times they will have more than 4 buds on a scape. It will be interesting to see if all 5 buds develop and bloom. Daphne's first scape has 3 blooms and Terracotta Star's first scape has 5 buds. Though it is less likely, you can have odd numbers of buds.

All 5 buds developed and bloomed on Elvas, 2 opened and were pretty well done by the time 2 more opened, then they were pretty well done when the 5th opened. I just cut the first stalk off yesterday, don't know how many buds the second stalk will have yet.

Thanks for updating and sharing A. experience with me, Tarev, Barbara, and Margaret. Now I may, just may, have something new to observe in the process: surprising second bloom stalk from the Peacock? strange odd # of flowers from the Samba? All the wonderful after all.

Barbara, Thinking of odd # of flowers on one stalk, would you mind posting some pic showing your 5 buds (or flowers) scape?

Oh, do all your bulbs from WFF and RC produce at least two scapes? Thanks.

Fiat, this is Sweet Nymph, last years bulb, it has 5 buds on one scape/stalk, you can pretty well see in what order they will open. Taken today. Green Grin!

Thanks for sharing pic, Margaret. Surprisingly but wonderfully, it does have five buds! And two scapes also! Then it seems carrying a baby growing leaves at side! I wonder how tall are the scapes? Guess it's about 15"? (judging from comparing to the pot size)

Two of the Peacock flowers are almost gone. And the Samba is coming to bloom soon, I guess:

Sure it's more colorful, and yet I can only see three buds there...

Thanks, Tarev. I turn the container and find the small 4th bud! Today's sky becomes more cloudy and dark; not good for the coming bloom Sad Sad

Fiat, the weather here has been cloudy with fog for several days now and I am sick of it. It isn't good for my Amaryllis for sure. Grumbling
