Looks like a very healthy plant with good roots. I learned that leafs differ per cultivar, some are very thick and breakable, and others are thin and flexible, or curly.

Your peacock looks great. It should do well replanted into soil. I'd leave the bulblet on this summer. It will develop its own roots, and then you can remove it. The other bulb may recover and root. Its not uncommon for bulbs to look like that after the initial blooming. Also some bulbs take a really long time to grow roots. I have 3 out of my 11 new bulbs, that have finished blooming, without any roots. I'm just going to plant them outside and give them the summer to root in. If your bulb is full of rot, it won't make it, but its too early to know whether or not that will be case. If the neck gets mushy and it starts to smell like decay, then you will have to discard it, but otherwise, there is hope.

Thanks, snarfie, for affirming my Peacock a healthy plant.

Barbara, you have a point that some bulbs take a long while to grow roots. I believe the other rot bulb (Celebration) actually didn't grow any new root. The rotted roots were old dry brittle ones when it arrived. The Peacock also had few old roots rot, but had grown lot new good ones. I hope the Cele survives (still kind of soft, no foul smell though) and starts to grow new roots and leaves soon...

Maybe give it a 'rest period' where it is stored cool and dry(about 12 to 16 degrees celsius, for 4 to 8 weeks), or try give it a warmer spot with higher humidity to wake it up

Samba update: both scapes have out-grown the new leaves that were out earlier.

Samba update: The first scape now has its stalk up visible (it's day 27 compared to the Celebration's at day 49 -- in soil vs in water); the fifth new growth (a leaf?) is out in the middle.

Update: 1. Samba is doing very well: 1st scape up to 16" and 2nd up to 12" - day 40
2. Celebration is showing a surprising new growth: the 2nd scape! - day128 (17 days after repot in soil) ((the 3rd pic shows Cele's 1st scape on day38 in water))

Is it safe to say the Cele is reviving and will live after the second scape's bloom? (still no sign of new leaf growing)

Sometimes that last scape is very slow to show itself. My Pretty Nymph is doing exactly the same thing. I thought that it was finished 8 weeks ago and sort of forgot about it: Its outside waiting to go in its permanent spot. Yesterday I noticed the tip of a new scape just poking up, even though it still has no leaves or roots. I hope your new "Samba" turns out to be really Samba, since it looks great!

Thanks, Barbara. Your Pretty Nymph example has given me more confidence on my Cele's revival from rot. I too hope the new Samba will id itself by the coming bloom soon.

My Samba's scape head is opening! Look like all buds inside are to bloom at closely same time...

Ok, my Samba is blooming! Strangely and I am a bit worried that it looks like the second stalk head gets too close to the first and presses on one of the flower petals? (see second pic) Is there anything I can do to resolve the odd issue?

Thanks, Barbara. I do like this one especially for its bright red color. (maybe because it grows in soil?)

Shocking surprise! Found the two samba stalks with full bloom toppled to the container rim this morning (apparently happened during the night). With much panic tried holding it up even with two stakes for no val... Then remember Barbara's flower cutting way of preserving blooms and Margret's plastic card magic. So here comes the Samba blooms in vase and 4 leaves remain growing on the bulb:

I left about 6 Amaryllis pots in dark storage a lot longer than necessary so now have buds about to bust in several of them. I think one is Temptation, another Tres Chic...

Fiat: You were lucky the blooms weren't damaged when they toppled over, but they'll give you plenty of enjoyment in a vase.
