I agree on the "fuggeddaboudit" ! The girls tried to talk me into going along....."You want to get batteries at Farm & Fleet...might as well do it today !" Nope ! No Way ! Not me !.....I wouldn't go today if they were offering me 75% off ! Too many people, in too big a hurry, all trying to "save money" as they try to "buy" some happiness.....that they COULD have had for nothing, if they stayed home, and enjoyed their family and friends, eating turkey sandwiches, and soaking up the peace that comes on the day AFTER all the rushing, and traveling, and meal preparation, and worrying, that seems to happen on any "special occasion".

Shopping today?...ha never! I almost bought some daffodils bulbs online today....almost. Green Grin!

I cleaned the yard, gutters, pool, mowed, and put away all the garden wind chimes and things. I've got a turkey in the oven and I'm going to another Thanksgiving dinner tonight. I'm going to get cleaned up and make some cookies.

Do they make maternity pants for men? Sticking tongue out

Nope, no shopping for me either! Went for an early snowy ride on my horse with daughter and couple of friends. Back home , finished the barn work and then dove into the Thanksgiving leftovers. Good thing riding pants stretch!

Maybe I'm the only one of us who shopped today... Dave offered to drive me to the nursery in the truck to pick up a lemon tree for my daughter for xmas. They only had 2 left when I was there the other day, so I was worried they would be gone. I needed to pick up some eggs for a strata I'll make for the radio station on Sunday. Then we picked up a tree... Last year, I went the first week in December, and the trees were all picked over Thumbs down I won't put it up for a couple weeks.. I haven't had a real tree in several years, but with a couple of grandkids now, it seemed right. Smiling

Sherry, I shopped too. I did NOT go to the mall but I did go to the outlet stores which was not crowded at all. It's a fairly small outlet center and there is probably 4 or 5 empty stores there, I wonder if the empty stores kept the people away. It was nice not having to wait in any lines, fight for parking, or dealing with grouchy people. Everyone that was working at at the outlet stores was very nice. I hope everyone is having a very safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.

They said on the news tonight that there weren't as many people out shopping today as in the past. They think it's because so many stores were open Thanksgiving. I can't even imagine....
With this beautiful weather I got a few things in the ground yesterday and today.. Mostly annuals, perennials and some bulbs.. but a few SDB's and an IB as well.. Rain tomorrow

I spent Black Friday making turkey stock out of the carcass. Made enough for two big pots of soup this time around! Also made turkey stew. Pretty tired of turkey this morning. Hilarious!
Finally some nice weather, so it's leaf raking time! (would like a year when it is finished before Christmas!) Going to a production of Into The Woods tonight over in Chapel Hill.

That's what Rita worked on when she got home, yesterday.....boiling bones!.....she usually just freezes it ,and we eat it later.....I like turkey, ..the first day is great....cold turkey sandwiches the next is fine....hot turkey sandwiches, and the last of the mashed spuds, the day after is "OK"....but then I don't want turkey for a while!

Hot turkey sandwiches! Love them. No one makes them down here in the south. They don't know what they are missing!

Yes, I plan on freezing half the stock for soups to be made later. Already tucked some turkey meat in the freezer as well.

It's fun reading about what y'all have been doing on and around the holiday.
Riding a horse with a daughter in the snow - a beautiful vision, Pam.
Getting eggs for a strata for the radio station ? Please explain, Sherry. I'm intrigued.
Rob, rolling around on the floor with a full tummy! Hilarious!

We had some family here - eldest son, his girlfriend, and my 10 yr. old grandson.
Some years we've had the whole family here , but no longer have the room for all of them,
and it's a loooong trek to get to us - with few places to put people up. I dream of building an
addition with several more bedrooms to accommodate the growing families..
Worked hard on the holiday meal - but it was so good!. 98 yr. old Mom had hers in bed as usual. She's weak,
but she still has a pretty good appetite.
She loved seeing her great grandson again.
Chris took a vanful of our pottery over to the Mendocino Art Center show and we sold a lot,
so I'm calling it Golden Friday!
