Yikes what a huge change in our weather,..seven days ago the temperature was 33C-88F,..now its dropped to 8C-48F,..frost last night and at 0730 this morning my car roof was frosty white,..hard to credit i had to light my fire tonight where as last week i was in a light shirt.

This section of the garden is filling in rapidly despite the cold.

I wonder if English bluebells will grow here....I've read they prefer cooler, milder spring/summer conditions, but don't they go dormant after blooming like Spanish bluebells? I've read so much about the fragrance, and that really tempts me to order a few bulbs to try.

Yes, I did. Smiling My friend is Welsh-Irish, I'm part Scots-Irish (my last name is Scottish, but paternal great-grandfather emigrated to the U.S. from Ireland). We chose our trips based mostly on that heritage. Although I always wanted to go to Florence before my traveling days were finished, I think we made the right choices. The photograph was taken at Aberglasney. We went to the National Botanic Garden, as well--amazing greenhouse!

Hi Neal,..yes our Bluebells go dormant after blooming though the foliage remains for well into summer,..its summer here now and mine are really only coming to full bloom,..i suspect they would grow where you are if they were not in full sun.

I was away each day for the past week,..took a notion to head off up the lake and remained overnight on a couple of nights,..very quiet on the Islands,..just myself and Molly the dog,..some pictures of various scenes from there,..one island is Hare island where the biggest hoard of Viking gold and silver found in Europe was found,..11 lbs of gold,..gold arm rings,..silver ingots,..silver arm rings,..i am always keeping my eyes open just in case i get lucky Whistling .

Recent and old shots.
