Enjoying the photos, trip and garden!
I was in Ireland, in Dublin, for only one day in 2009, on our way to visit family in Germany and Switzerland. We made the most of it by visiting Powerscourt gardens, the Upper Lake at Glendalough and the Reefert Church ruins. Everything was soooo green!
This was my favorite shot.
Its great that you managed a visit to Powerscourt Gardens and Glendalough,..those gardens are huge and a very peaceful location,..back in the 1980's i lived about 10 min drive from there and spent many a day there,..just to bring back memories for you below is a video of Powerscourt Gardens made by Gaidars and Chris Sudmalis,..enjoy it.
Love your gardens and cats! You grew this mostly from seed and cuttings?? Unbelievable!!! Ok..the 'hand' sculpture looked real to me.
I am interested in seeing how the New Zealand hollyhock turns out.

Hi Missy,
i would say 99% of the plants are either seeds i was given or were attached to a gardening magazine i purchased,..i am a cuttings addict and can not resist taking one,.. even from places i should not ,..i grow more plants than i need so i give many away though some end up in my next door neighbors garden,..she loves flowers but knows nothing about gardening.
My Yucca alifolia developed a hole in the bark which almost went fully through and i feared it would snap and fall down so i stuffed it with some kitchen towels to dry out the moisture inside,..when fully dry i added Neem Oil on a towel and left it overnight to kill of any bacteria,..next day added Fix All foam which hardens and can be cut to shape when dry,..the tree should now be solid again,..will it survive,..time will tell,..i would hate to lose it as i had it before i moved to my present house,..and the one before that,..in all 14 years.
Here you can see the patch,..plus a new flower bed in the middle of the main garden area,..in front at the stones are Lungworth which will grow over the stones,..beyond that are Mexican Shell Flowers,..and taller is a Lavatera,..higher again a rose bush,..it will be interesting to see will it appear as in my mind.
Hi Neal,
Thank you,..i hope it works and feel confident,..i was going to cut below the damaged area and see what would grow,..plus cut above the damaged area and plant that section,..if all fruit fails i will resort to this.
Hi Debra,
That wall is ancient,..several hundred years old,..it runs along the back of the three houses where i live then along the sides and carries alongside the Church and the park,..the entire area was owned by the Church but they allowed three houses to be built next to the Church.
Beyond that wall at the back of my garden is a wall some 16 foot high as the land is higher there so you are right in thinking there is a hill there ,..a long explanation.
