Daffodils blooming means it must be spring. These usually bloom early March. Not this year!

Great news, Lucy. We have daffodils, had pansies until some critter ate all the blooms, and it's a joy to be outside.

Marilyn - In late March my helper and I moved some roses to keep them out of reach from the deer. So far Sheila's Perfume looks so bad that I ordered a Chihuly rose to replace it. Enjoy Ebb Tide. It's a beauty but grew smaller each year so I finally gave up on it.

Melting snow. While there is quite a bit of ground showing, measurement this morning was 4-5" still on the Siberian iris bed. There is shade from trees, but those don't have leaves as yet.

Lucy, the last piles of ice are really slow to melt.....still one pile left in my neighbors' yard, & still some behind the dam where I walk.....Pirl, sorry about your Ebb Tide....I've noticed my Brilliant Pink Iceberg is slowly fading away....Last year, I lost both of my Carefree Celebrations....seems like back-to-back awful winters are not good for the roses..... Sad

My February Gold daffodils are blooming. As the name implies, often they bloom at the end of February. Not this year ha-ha. They just started. Can't take a picture today as I have wash hanging on the line outside.

Isn't it great to be able to hang the laundry out? And open the windows? Simple pleasures that keep me sane!

I had two windows open today and still have one open now. As to the laundry, I just love the way the sheets smell dried out on the line.

The daffodils are really blooming here and the very early tulips have started.
