Pam - I don't see any ugly faces in your seedlings at all. I think they are all lovely. Thumbs up

Pat - That is one funny series of photos with that lizard using the top of that bloom as a look-out post! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I only had 1 new seedling today and I nearly missed it until I caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye in the late afternoon. I like it because it's ruffles are short and dual-colored. Triangular shaped bloom. This is "Bird Talk x Unknown". Stats are 8" scape, 2 buds, and 5 1/2" bloom. The plant is pretty small, so not surprised at such a short scape with only 2 blooms. It may do much better next year if gets bigger and produces more fans. And yes! that is rust you see on some of the surrounding plants. I live with rust because I am an organic gardener and will eventually cull some of the rust buckets, but for now I'm just watching to see what shows resistance and what doesn't.

Thank you Karen, Mike, and Betty!

That IS a bright yellow bloom of your AMERICAN FLYER X FRINGY seedling. I am starting to appreciate things about daylilies that I hadn't before. Bright colors are now something I favor. A year ago, I liked pastel colors.

No new ones today, but there are quite a few scapes and buds for new to bloom seedlings.

I seem to be having a problem with grasshoppers eating parts of my bloom buds! Grrrr ....

This is a seedling that bloomed for the first time last year. (Parentage unknown.) I don't remember it being this big though. An 18" scape, with 7" blooms. Each branch on the scape has 4 buds. There are 4 branches with a total of 16 buds. How's that for consistency? LOL!

It still bloomed just fine even with the bites taken out of it by the dang grasshopper. I do love the rich color of this deep red :

Three more new seedling bloomed today. Some of these blooms sure are interesting!

Hotter Than the Fourth of July x Rorschach Test (ZZZ71). Stats are 25" scape, 7" blooms, and 12 buds. There were two first blooms on this seedling. Huge blooms! Really eye-catching when I first saw them. This is one of two unbloomed seedlings that I got from Rich on the LA. It was a very interesting cross, which is why I bid on it.

Two blooms:

Nice seedlings Becky, good job on the bloom collages. I do not pay any attention to stats on the first scape of 7-9 month old babies, I will take stats on rebloom because that is the time when I choose what will be moved to the hybridizing area.

Cindy - My collages are made using Scrapbook Factory Deluxe. I didn't know Plant step had a collage maker?

Fred - Thanks! Your newest bloom photos are truly beautiful. I see you like the really pale yellow color blooms. Very attractive! I love that first one! Lovey dubby

Pat - Every one of those are lovely! I especially like the very last one! What a pretty pink and white colored ruffled bloom with that green throat! Lovey dubby

I had a few more bloom for the first time. The first three came as seeds from @Hazelcrestmikeb :

Francis of Assisi (CCC19). Stats include 21" scape, 6" bloom, and 8 buds. It is also showing some rust resistance. Striking color and you can see a bit of a lighter color pattern surrounding the yellow eye.

This one I had marked as El Desperado x unknown, but I am wondering if it mis-labeled. How often would the eye pattern disappear in a child plant? Stats are 3" scape (No typo-error, this one is very short), 4" bloom, and 3 buds.

It turned yellow by late afternoon:

Becky, I don't know if Plant Step has a collage maker either but I think it has a way to keep your seedlings and their parentage in a special section of it. I will have to check into that.

Betty - So neat to see such a different sibling. That is the most fascinating part for me to see the difference in siblings! Love both of those! I have a couple of Spinefield crosses that have yet to bloom. Very cute baby teeth on yours!

Cindy - I use scrapbook deluxe for so many things. It's one of those programs I know well, so I use it constantly ... especially for collages. I have added parent photos to Plant Step in each of the cross/hybrid folders and I label the parents as either pod or pollen, but it does not give me a collage, just a slideshow of photos. Which I also like, but I prefer to have a collage in each cross folder for immediate comparison.

I have to tell you that I can't hand-pollinate my blooms early during the weekdays because I have to be at work before the pollen is available. So most of my work is done late in the day after 4 pm. Which explains why I am not getting a lot of seed pods. But your Cherry Custard Cheesecake x Palace Garden Beauty has been very pod fertile! It does get partial shade during the day, so that may be a factor ... but almost every bloom has produced a pod! I love the colors and the eye on that sweet little daylily hybrid! Thanks so much!

Fred - Oh my! Love your patterned blooms! Wow!

I just love Dragonfly Dawn and it's children .... such as Waves of Joy ... which is another cross I tried to bid on during the LA auction but always got outbid. Fortunately, my DD seeds/seedling wins have produced some beauties for me, so I am very happy! That first one you posted above is dynamite! I love that neat pattern and the colors! You certainly have some really nice patterned seedlings blooming for you!

On another thread, I think it was Betty posted a first bloom of a registered daylily. She was disappointed by that first bloom, but the second bloom looked much better. Is that pretty common? How much can they change in the way the bloom looks from the first year to the third year? Looking at my first time to bloom seedlings .... I am wondering if those blooms will look different next year or even on any reblooms?
