Okay folks, I only have one bearded iris left to share. Started bloom time as a mangled bud, followed by the most creative of my chimera, then real blooms.

Yes, it is a Burseen, because I had to save one for the end.

And not to be a tease, but it will be posted tomorrow. (The end of the season! Crying Crying )

Well Greg, are you at the end of your bloom season? If not, don't be surprised to see a late stalk popping up!

Last new stalk opened on the 30th of May. I have not been able to do a good look see since because we have had severe thunderstorms running through. Supposed stop tomorrow morning; so they say.

Orchid Dove - is on my "got to get list too" and also Reckless in Denim.

As far as those little bugs go when we went to Superstition Gardens Rick told us what they were but I only heard a small part of the conversation since I was taking pictures. I think Sherry and Marilyn might have heard what Rick said about them. If they don't remember maybe Marilyn could ask Rick at one of the Iris meetings. If I remember right the conversation may have had something to do with the pollen. These bugs were all over my Iris this year too.

Those little tiny oval things are Thrips. I do see them most of the time now, and just blow them off when I'm taking a picture.
There was also the hoplia beetle that he was talking about that we saw all over the place.

Don't have the beetles thank heavens. We have enough trouble with Japanese beetles around here eating everything.

I try to knock the thrips off, too. Should I be treating for them? I treat the daylilies.

Try planting some Nicotinea (sp. ?) Flowering Tobacco is what we call it here. It helps keep skeeters and gnats away, and may be of use for thrips ,also . It also smells WONDERFUL in the evenings !!

Not in Durham or NC.

As Sgt. Schultz would say, "I see nothing!"

Maryland won a National Championship this year, was in a championship game and lost, and was in a final 4. We did good.

My last bearded iris of the season to post. A Burseen. My favorite Burseen? No. But I give this one credit for stamina. Had frost damage so bad the first bud couldn't get it's mangled bud open so I snapped it off. It rewarded me with a chimera, then some real blooms! There is irony that the best pic I have is of the chimera!

Elvis Dreamer - "and honey chile these are sideburns, Elvis won't be having no beard." Hilarious! Hilarious!

Serious fuzz!

And as a chimera (one standard, 2 falls, one half & half, and two "burns")
