I thought my rabbit was visiting your garden at first, Annette! I have one that looks just like yours in the Frances Ortegot pic except mine doesn't have a basket. Lovely pictures, as usual! So looking forward to peony blooms after seeing yours!

This is supposed to be Harvest Tree Peony but it looks nothing like it. Harvest TP flower has a wheat color and a semidouble form; this is obviously white and single form. I am not happy about this discovery after 2 years. I bought this on Ebay. Never will I purchase TP from Ebay vendors again.

Sometimes the form will change as TP get older, but I do know your feeling.I brought TP from K.van Bourgondien three years ago, finally they're blooming this year, they look not thing like the pictures for that variety, now i had couple of NOID in my garden, very upset about that.

Karen, your peonies are beautiful! I would love to see your Nova when it opens. It is frustrating when you don't get what you ordered!

Today, I realized what was supposed to be 3 peony Moonstone, that I planted next to my rose Souvenir de la Malmaison, are white semi double, not the pink double that I wanted to go with my rose😡 I too now also have 3 more noid plants in my garden😔

Sarah Bernhardt, peonies are a new-old plant for me, haven't grown then in 20 years. Very excited to have so many blooms. This is year two, it was bought as potted plant.

Thank you, Yan and Annette. It is frustrating to get NOIDs when you want a particular cultivar for a reason. I think all my TP purchases from this Ebay seller are all mislabeled and I think they are on purpose. I believe that he just puts a name to a noid plant so that he can sell it because we as buyers have no recourse to complain two or three years from purchase.

Annette, did you buy your Moonstones from Van Engelen? I also purchased the Moonstone package from Van Engelen. I planted one at my house and two at my church. The 3 of them all bloomed white semidouble. I believe they are Miss America because they look exactly like my Miss America peony. I also bought Gay Paree package from them and these turned out to be something else that are similar to White Cap or Santa Fe. All my purchases from Van Engelen are mislabeled. Grumbling

Judy, your Sarah Barnhardt is lovely! I did not realize that Sarah Barnhardt has such a pretty shade of pink. I can't wait for my SB to bloom. I planted mine last year and they are showing a few small buds.

Judy, does you SB require a LOT of staking? We get a lot of late snow here and crazy rain/hail and SB seems to be one of the worst to lay on the ground or break when the weather goes bad. I'd love to hear if it is different in a warmer zone since that's where I think we'll be in 5-10 years. It is an amazingly pretty flower and smells good, too. If all it required was a peony ring in a warmer zone I'd get it again in a heartbeat!

Tree peony Lan Fu Rong opens today. Huge flower about 6 inches diameter. Fragrant but neither pleasing nor offensive.

Liz, Sarah definitely needs support here. The first rain after blooms open weighs them to the ground. I have one clump that is much to big for a peony ring, usually I just cut all the blooms and bring them inside after they are rained on. There are so many buds on the big clump, I may rig up some kind of support for it this year.

I have a lovely pink noid that has the large bomb blooms. The only way I could keep them even semi up was to wire splints on each stem . What a pain. And it drops tons of petals as the blooms mature. Which is why I have mostly singles or waterlily or anemone. But it is so prolific that I just can't do away with her.

@kousa, Karen, the 3 Moonstone peonies did come from Van Engelen! Your tree peony and Nova are gorgeous, I love the delicate color of Nova.

Liz, my SB needs staking as well. I put one of the tomato cages around it.

Yan, OMG! Your tree peony garden is just stunning. The bloom colors are so vibrant.

Thanks, Annette.

Wow Yan, your tree peonies are just incredible! You truly have a knack for growing great TP. Can I ask how long do the blooms on your TP last? Mine do not seem to last long. Already the white Noid bloom is starting to wilt. Do they have a tendency to shatter their petals quickly?

After seeing the beautiful tree peonies and many of the standard types, I feel outclassed by my first standard peony of the season.

My TP did not last long either, five days.I think the temperature & the sun play a big part of it, they do best under part shade location, that's why in Japan they always protect TP when there are blooming. and some variety is better that others, like my" Wu Long Peng Sheng" got burned really easy , but "Ao Yang" do good with sun.

Yan, your tree peonies are all beautiful, really like the red. The little white peony in the pic probably has an inferiority complex, huh?? Hopefully it'll get attention after the red has finished blooming....
