I found this picture from May 19, 2013. My camera does not give a true picture since this is really a deep brown chocolate color. I like the chocolate color to offset the orange/pink of Roselette.

Thank you Jerry for the detailed answer! Photos from other gardeners along with personal experiences with various varieties means so much more to me than any catalog description. The stuff wish lists are made of! LOL

Annette - that yellow flower is a Geum - Lady Stratheden.

Here's my Festiva Maxima.

I have another F. Maxima languishing in the shade of the persimmon tree that I really need to move.

Garden treasure opened up yesterday - just in time before I leave for 2 weeks. Bowl of Beauty also opened. I will miss all my other herbaceous ones as all blooming will be done before I get back. Looking forward to seeing all of the northern gardener's blooms.

Annette - in the second photo are some red Geums - blazing sunset. They self-seed and adds a nice splash of color. If I remember, I'll save some seeds for you.

Dianne, Garden Treasure is beautiful, and your BoB with the red Geum and yellow Columbine is just lovely!

Yes please on the Geum seeds if you get a chance.

Safe travels, and enjoy your trip!

Guess I will have to enjoy the ones here for another year.Mine are finally coming up bigger and this year tiny buds.
Have not had a peony bloom since moving 3 years ago. Sad

I have put new ones in as well as the ones I brought with me so hoping next year I will get some blooms.

Thank you all for sharing.

Debra, looks like a very pretty peony, regardless of name! Nice contrast with the white blooms and the bright foliage. Hazeleyes, I hope your buds make it to blooms this year. Discouraging to wait so long for flowers but the peonies are worth it.
