If you remember, those two (first-time) seedlings were germinated in early Jan., 2014, and this spring were approximately 4.5-5' tall. I cut both of these single-stemmed seedlings about half way up in May, and this is one of those now rooted cuttings. Both the cuttings are growing well and putting out lots of leaves and appear to be starting to branch as well. The two cuttings (that were left potted and rooted) have branched as well from their cut ends, one having four tips and the other five tips. These two seedlings (now four plants) are vigorous growers to say the least.

It is now raining but as soon as it quits I will take some pictures of those multi-tipped seedlings.

Mark, what makes your plants so slow to leaf-out? Is it the San Diego climate compared to mine here in Mississippi? Do you fertilize differently? You seem to have lots of inflo. but little leaves, and my plants are just the opposite.

We've had VERY VERY different weather this year...that and I think some varieties take a little longer than others...I have a Kaneohe sunset that hasn't opened up yet...I might be wrong, but I think the darker colors might be the reason...

All my (intense) reds, Scott Pratt, Malaysian Red, and Rose Red are all well-leafed out, but none have any inflo. yet. Heck, all my plants are well-leafed. We had a cold and wet late winter/early spring, and I was 2-3 weeks late in getting my completely dormant plants outside. After they begin forming leaves I begin my fertilization with 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer as well as Osmacote slow release. In mid-June, for those that are really well-leafed, I then will switch to a water soluble "bloom" fertilizer, something like 10-30-20 or 8-50-15 (depends on what I have on hand). Thus at this point, my plants are still getting that slow release whenever watered/rained on plus the bloom fertilizer every 3-4 weeks.

I have Celadine, Vera Cruz Rose, Slaughter Pink, Jack's Compact Yellow, and Mendy #5 in bloom and several more varieties with inflo. but no flowers yet. I tend to be a couple of months behind those in S. Florida. It really sets me back having to bring all mine inside from November through February (often through March) and forcing full-dormancy for those 4-5 months.

Thank You! everyone.

Ken I agree with Hetty you have a false inflo. Good thing is, next year you will really have a lot of branches from your seedling, the momma plants and the kids.

Mark they will be beautiful when they fully wake up.

Tarev I am glad it is happening now, I've been holding off buying additional plants because I have no room for more. The seedlings are taller than my rooted cuttings already so they are occupying a lot of space and my time.

Shoot! Sighing! For better or for worse, they big seedlings will just have to survive winter dormancy. I won't have the room to overwinter them in a greenhouse.

I have been holding off getting new plants but more due to our drought. So just nurturing what is here. Thankfully the two plumies are still okay so far, just a tad slow this year.

Lin, I just pretended the seedpod didn't exist so I don't have to think about it. Some seedpods ripen fast.

Yes Many plumeria experts including our moderator Hetty and BBB believe that Barbados Showgirl (registerered plumeria name) and Confetti are the same. Exotic Plumeria sells them for $100 per cutting. I bought mine from HD for $19 (1-tip as no ID) and BBB as rooted cutting for $29 (2-tip).

HD will not tell me who their plumeria distributor is but when both of my HD and BBB plumeria bloomed, I was surprised that their blooms and even seedpods and everything else look the same. Side by side the blooms and fragrance are identical and that's how I was able to ID the HD plumeria as Barbados Showgirl.

Wow, it sure is beautiful! If they are one and the same plant, why do we have two separate database entries? Shouldn't there just be one listing with it saying: Also Sold As?

Hetty, here is a plumeria that should be dear to your heart, the Madame Gallibert. This is the original plant (cutting) you sent me two years ago and she seems to be really happy right now. Not only does she have an inflorescence in the works but it looks like she wants to grow three or four tips. Question: Do your plants have large leaves, really large leaves. I measured one of her leaves and from the stem, the leaf measures 22"x6"! Some of my Celadine have leaves that large. Is one of her parents the Celadine?

I'm glad she is happy there! This time of year the plumeria have their largest leaves, all this humid weather puts on some great growth.
I have no idea whether Celadine and Madame Gallibert are related....

I guess all the rain we had this past week supercharged the plumeria. All my pots have slow release fertilizer pellets so the rain (ctically every day), gave them all a daily dose of fertilizer.

Hetty, do you think there is a lot of the Madame Gallibert plants out there? I have gone online and checked, and I can't find a single one for sale. Neither a dealer, a commercial grower, nor an individual has a single one listed.
