62 degrees this a.m. when I went out and within minutes the rain started. Again. High of only 74 today with 68% humidity. Many of these are on stunted scapes which is why the photos look so odd.

The ffo of Mean Green is a backward bloom which has awesome branching.

Awesome group of blooms. I have lots of short scapes on mine too.

We had a normal winter so I am really frustrated with the stunted scapes this year, I had little that weren't stunted last year after a Godzilla hail storm the 3rd week of May. I suspect that the hail pounding the growing tips of scapes caused the problem. The foliage was shredded also. Maybe it's too early for them to get their groove back. I have no choice but to see one bloom ea to place the correct markers with plants after the neighbor's dog took a romp through the beds.

Coincidentally, last year I had used 3 different colored flagging tape around the markers for registered DOR, SEV and EV's and was checking to see which ones were hard dormants here . I'm noticing a pattern and need to enter daily notes in my excel spread sheet, but it seems that I have more dormants and dips stunted.

I loved looking at all her beautiful spiders, but afraid they are a little too much for my budget. Maybe someday when I hit the lottery, lol.

Dormants - That is an outstanding scape on Mean Green! This seems the year for stunted scapes and barrels of rain. I'm drooling over Class Action, Martha Chamberlain, and Firelighter.

David - I'm really liking Ledgewood's Firecracker and Bold Marauder.

It rained here most of the night and morning, so my blooms are either not open or beat up. Here are a few from yesterday.

Today.

Monocacy Summer Mist. I'm not going to try to describe the color. It's different:

I was thinking that daylilies do the color pink really well. Mentally, the first colors that come to my mind with daylilies are orange and yellow. But with just the few pinks I grow there is a lot of range from the darker rose pink of Extinction to the cameo pink tone of Liquid Memory. None of mine have been early bloomers. Today Flamingo Flambeau, a strong medium pink - sort of like a flamingo Smiling and Lilting Belle which can have a light touch of lavender in the right conditions but generally is more pink here are still showing well - for a little while anyway. I expect the wind today will destroy blooms fairly early on.

Debra, did you get Entwined directly from Carol Emmerich? I have always wanted to visit her place but haven't done it yet. I guess it's really something.

Karen - No I bought EITV on the Lily Auction. It's available on there from time to time. Do you live close to Carol Emmerich's place? I bet you would have a wonderful time visiting. Her daylilies are so beautiful!
