I have Malaysian Monarch, and you are right. Malaysian Monarch didn't bloom for me this year. It think the bed is getting a bit too shaded. I have my order in for my husband to do some tree trimming this fall, so hopefully I will get more bloom from that bed next year. Anyway, if it isn't Real Purple Star, I wonder what it is?

As for your expression...I've only ever heard it as something like "the flower will knock your socks off" or "it's flowering its butt off"...but what you said is sort of a cross between the two that I've never heard used that way.

It was a rainy morning here, so it wasn't the best day for pictures. I guess my flowers knew that, though, because there were only 5 blooms today. Here's one that was pretty decent as of around 8:30pm:

Not sure what you'd call it, trying to double or poly. It only had the one extra petal and no extra sepal. Not a true poly? But BEAutiful still!

It's not an extra petal, it is a petaloid stamen (note there are only five normal stamens and you can actually see the anther on the petaloid tissue, effectively the sixth stamen). So it's partially doubling.

Thanks for clarification sooby! Looks like I'll need to study up on my daylily terminology a bit more...

It's a pretty one. What is interesting to me with yours, and with some doubles here, is that the petaloid tissue still shows an edge.

Thanks again... I can't wait to get it in a permanent place in the new lawn. It's potted right now as are most of mine. Moving to new home in November with additional gardening space.
