Werepanda said:Quick update from Central Florida, between my 7 cherrys this year I am currently pulling about 40 per day (super sweet 100s, sun gold and sun sugar). Not too shabby except my coworker, who got me started in this whole mess, is pulling between 70 and 90 from 5 plants! His super sweet 100s are currently 10 feet tall with one topping 11 feet! Now, he is from Louisiana and I'm almost positive he's got some cajun voodoo witch doctor helping him out somehow!!! (Not that I'm jealous or anything... well maybe a little!)

No pest problems to speak of this year other than one outbreak of white mold which neem oil knocked out very quickly.

We also got absolutely pounded by rain yesterday and I leave for work before sunrise, so I haven't been able to check to see if there's any damage yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would say your still doing really great with your tomato harvests.,

After lots rain over the last week, things are clearing here. I am now trying to get my plants hardened off so I can hopefully plant next week maybe.

We bought 4 Rutgers and we wanted 4 Lemon Boy but those plants did not look good. I let Layman pick what he wanted to try, so we got 3 Golden Girl plants. Have never had that one before and can't find much on it. Hoping for the best! Crossing Fingers!

I was wondering about that myself. That is the one that pops up in trying to search for information. Thanks Sandy! Thumbs up

That made it on my list to get seeds for next year and grow and try.

The other day when I was at Home Depot looking in the tomato section (just looking) I saw a new one called Chocolate Sprinkles. They claim it is more productive than any similar OP varieties and sweeter. Apparently it is a new Hybrid.

Of course I was very tempted but I have no more room plus I guess I have enough tomato plants.

I'm glad you qualified that with "I guess"!

I think you still have a little room left on the roof of your house, not covered by tomato vines. Room for A FEW more plants!

oh, you Master Enabler you, Rick!! Rolling on the floor laughing

The roof.....I've never before considered it. Hmmmm, the plants WOULD get all day unshaded sun. . . .but my roof is steeply slanted, like the two legs of an isosceles triangle: how would I move around on the roof to tend the plants?? Naawww, on second thought, my roof is out of consideration. Sighing! I guess I,ll just have to stick with my 8 plants in containers on my back patio. (Last year, I started with 11 plants in containers, but soon realized my little patio didn't all get 8 hours of sun/day, so had to adopt out the 2 least favorites.)

These pics are the 1 month "birthday" of my Tomato Jungle, version 2016. (They were transplanted OUTSIDE on May 1 & 2.)

Those tomatoes are doing really well. Tomato jungle is right. Going to get a great harvest when things start to ripen.

Your tomato plants are very healthy!
These are just going out doors into containers, now.
But I have sheets ready still,--- because I see the long range weather says down to just above freezing in another 10 days!

Caroline -- it seems like your weather was better than mine; but now I won't complain about lows going down to 45F or so!

@BetNC can you tell us more about Cecil's Choice? I'm interested in dwarf tomatoes but I can't find any information on it on the web.

my bad!!!...it's CYRIL'S Choice!!

It was developed by an English gentleman (Cyril), using his plot in a community garden. When he died, it was thought that this tomato was lost forever - since nobody else had the seeds. Some time later, his grandson was given Mr. Cyril's desk (which had been stored by his children). The young man was cleaning out the drawers and among a pile of papers, he found an envelop labeled "SEED". The seed was planted and the resulting tomato was named Cyril's Choice, in honor of Mr. Cyril.

Cyril's Choice d67 Determinant (4') Regular-shaped, rugose leaves
fruit: red & variable: globe to oblate & golf- to billiard-ball size
Heirloom, from England
stake well: abundant producer

My notes (thus far; plant is only about 2', 2 months after transplanting out)
short, stout plant thats doing well with only a central bamnboo pole and requiring precious little staking . . .yet
working with it is rather difficult, as leaves (branches , too) are thick and rigid & flowers are very small
it already has several clusters of green fruit almost full size

Thanks! I've found at least three suppliers, and it's on my list for next year.
