Molto bella !!!

Is this the one that the pollen came from? Very well grown!

Be sure to overwinter the bulb dry when the time comes...

My last blooms, which is only because it is an odd seedling. Next year it should bloom in July/Aug.

My word!!!! Thumbs up Is anybody familiar with a ''Brown Tiger Lily''?-Years ago, when i showed it, an old judge remarked that it was a rare species called'' Tan'', but all research has failed to find a true name,.,.it has very thick, leathery, petals and is identical to the orange tigrinum[but brown],.,.I will show a pic, as soon as it flowers.

That looks like a hybrid to me, Anthony, and notwithstanding color, it still doesn't seem at all identical to L. lancifolium(tigrinum), either. It looks very much like what is on the market as "Tiger Lilies" that are really multiple asiatic hybrids with L. lancifolium in their background. If it is fully open (recurved to its fullest extent), that's another strike against its identity as a species cultivar. L. lancifolium is completely recurved. Does it have bulbils in the leaf axils? (It should if it is L. lancifolium.) L. lancifolium has rather thin petals (less substance). I can't tell if that is the true aspect of the flower from your pic, but the flowers should be held similar to any of the pics on this page:
http://www.the-genus-lilium.co...
or these L. lancifolium:

Thumb of 2011-12-18/Leftwood/546891

Nevertheless, it is a real beauty! I really love the pink/brown/gold mix of colors.

There is an old Stone and Payne hybrid by the name of 'Tan Tiger' that seems to fit. When you read the description you can tell it is one of those "hard to describe" lilies with respect to color. The spots appear to fit as described, covering about two thirds of the tepals and the tepals being just a bit reflexed, not completely reflexed as in lancifolium. It also indicates the presence of some bulbils so likely has lancifolium in its background.

I think it would be just wonderful if it is indeed this old lily and it is still being grown.

Edited to add the clarification: The "Tiger" in the hybrid name does not make it a species; it is just part of the hybrid's name. If it was a cultivar from the species the Lily Register would have it in division IX instead of I.

Rick-It opened this morning, and i photod it at 7 am, so i would get a true colour shot, not a faded one[it is so hot here]It does have ariel bulbils[ not as many as my 'Flaviflorum' man alive, it has massive clusters on one stem, resembling a green foliated blackberry] and the petals are as i said 'really leathery and strong,'..Pard, thanks for burnin' the midnight oil,old John, the judge is 86 yrs old and no mug to lilium descriptions, -although, due to age, is sometimes vague,.,. this bulb came to me years ago from a person now deceased,.,.I will quizz John, possibly for the last time, on'Tan Tiger'on 14-15 jan at our lily show,.Thanks for the responses,.,. Thumbs up
