That flower is about the same size as my first flowers from seed. But they should be double that (or maybe more?) when they mature. Trying to get seed from your baby will be very stressful on the plant, especially in your heat. The species is native to Siberia and points north across Eurasia. Obviously, it doesn't get that warm there. For reasons I'll not go into, my ten seedlings were still all crammed into a small 3.5 x 5 inch pot when they bloomed, so they didn't have the best of care.

I used the pollen from my plants, but I didn't pollinate them. I had transplanted them the bulbs that fall, but still, less than half of them bloomed the next season.
