Ken, I like that Den. Aphrodite cross too. Nice orchid.

Elaine, Nice Spathoglottis and I agree, mine keep getting bigger each year too. If confined to a small pot, I think you could manage them. My yellow one seems to be the most vigorous. I really like the Little Lulu and it does well in your hands.

Addition al orchids blooming in the OC include Bct. Roman Holiday (Ctt. Chocolate Drop x B. nodosa) which has a dark red, waxy flower. I always have trouble with the pictures as the light dances off of the shinny surface producing gray streaks.

A last look at V. Pedro Bonetti (V. Doctor Anek x V. Fuchs Gold).

This is Cahuzacara [Chz.] Haleahi Sunbow (Bsn. Maikai x Rby. Golden Tang). I have both of the parents which makes it interesting to compare and imagine.

Lastly, my other Maikai, Bsn. Maikai 'Spotted Star' (B. nodosa x Gur. bowringiana). A very vigorous plant.

I agree "Cousin It" is just magnificent, and sure compliments all the other colors in the background there. (just saying here . . . ) You're gonna need a lot more room in your greenhouse if that lovely monster gets much bigger.

Jim, I just love the soft red on the V. Pedro Bonetti and of course the Roman Holiday is a real star.

I see that I have missed the start of the fall blooming season. We are busy packing up the house and checking items off of the punch list. Dec 1 is the date to put the house on the market. We found one we love but we can't put an offer unless our house is on the market. I'm exhausted from getting up at 5:30 am everyday to work on the house before going to work.

Everyone's blooms are magnificent. I especially love the Holcoglossum wangii and the Bct Roman Holiday! Fabulous. Drooling

I am enjoying Vanda sitting for my friend Andrea. She and her husband have been in India for the past 2 months or so. Here is her V. Sansai Blue 'Acker's Pride' FCC/AOS. It popped the spike about 2 weeks after she left and has been steadily growing ever since. Finally blooms!

Melissa, mine was on the market for 5 months but closing time was only two weeks. What are your fall back plan for your orchids if it sells durning the winter? Btw, my family has a rental house on Carrington, just around the block from you.

Jim, as always, you have a beautiful display! I love the Roman Holiday! Lovey dubby I think you captured the shiny leaves nicely! Smiling I love the Maikai too. Neat Cahu/Wth!! Interesting color on the V. Pedro Bonetti.

Elaine, yes the Ornithophora is getting to be a true space hog. But, there are some plants one always gives them the room, right? This is one of them.

Melissa, busy times for you.Wishing you a reasonably smooth transition to a new place. This Vanda is of course gorgeous!

New bloomer this morning for me, a mini-Phal I got in Apopka a year ago. It even has a tag!

Phal. celebensis X Phal. micholitzii is much more ivory than the greenish shade the picture shows.

Bert, we have several fall back plans. Since Paul is the head volunteer for the orchids at the MBG, we could rent some GH space from them for our collection. Also the house that we want to make an offer on has 2 bathrooms, so feasibly we could put a large portion in there temporarily. And last, but not least, we have several MOS members who have GH who could house a few for us similarly to what we are doing for our friend who is in India. I have all of her Vandas (8 HUGE plants) so she has space where she might be able to watch ours when she returns.

That's a sweet little phal, Elaine!

Yours are always gorgeous Jim, but I especially love the 2 maikai's! And the color of that vanda is stunning!

I do have more in bloom than I thought out there in my yard...I just took a little tour with the camera...

These two jumped into my cart from the clearance section of Lowe's yesterday (no id's of course!)

This is some sort of maxillaria that I put in a basket with my coconut max. (if it has a tag I need a ladder to see it) these little blooms are TINY!

You better be making room, Patty. You are getting a huge box of orchids (probably on) Saturday.

Patty, the last one with the tiny blooms is Ornithophora radicans ( newer name Gomesa radicans) Take a closer look, these tiny blooms look like teensy birds! This is the same as the monster plant I just posted yesterday, and also a couple of weeks ago with my husband posing with the plant.

OMG, really Ursula???? WOW, now I'm excited!!!! I was trying to figure out how to get one of those, cause I LOVE yours! I will have to drag out the ladder tomorrow...I thought for sure it was a max. or I don't think I would have put it in the same basket...but I sure hope you are right!!! If it wasn't dark already I think I would be out there on the ladder already! I could barely see the little blooms...I had the camera high above my head to take the picture. Oh, I am SO excited! Thank You! Thank You!

No problem, Ken...I have plenty of room...but I'm very excited to be getting that box as well!! Thumbs up

wow...I turn my back for a few hours and it got crazy on this page!
Jim...Love that Roman Holiday...very dramatic !
Melissa..good luck with all the realestate dealings...sounds like you've got good options for your plants..which is what we always worry about the most!
Elaine, I love those mini Phals....I wish I could grow them..I can grow the heck out of a near dead large one from the Lowe's scratch and dent cart...but kill the mini ones in record time!
Patty...what a lot you have blooming right now...my favorite is the bi-folate Cat with the fragrance...a great color and look at all the buds coming along..NICE!
I am back in Miami, FL ...going to Fairchild Gardens tomorrow...and ( probably Whistling Whistling Whistling ) going to come home with some souvenirs...

Ursula...no tag on the plant. Are you sure it's the same as yours? What can you tell me about how to grow it? Have any hints for me? Yours is AWESOME! Mine is quite small...it's in a 6-8" basket along with a small Maxillaria tenuifolia...Since they're not both max.'s I think I put them together so they could keep each other company while they grow up! Whistling Should I split them up or wait till they are both a little bigger, or just keep them together?
THANKS!

Patty, I am sure those blooms you posted are the little blooms of Ornithophora radicans. Take a sniff next time the sun hits them. Imagine the sweet scent of honey or Dandelions.

I never let mine dry out, water daily with rain water. In Summer outside it is fairly warm here in NJ, I keep it a bit protected from noon time sun until the new growth matures in early Fall. It comes inside around the middle of September here and I keep it a bit more sunny in my very bright greenhouse. It blooms like clockwork ever October into November. Mimimum temperature 60 degr F.

I'm from New York, so know the temps where you are, Ursula. I think I'm going to have to move mine in order to water daily, or at least never let it dry out...since right now I have it pretty high under my oak so it's only getting dappled sun and only water when it rains. I'll be getting the ladder out again to move it, so then I'll get to smell it too, and see what I get!
Thank you, thank you!! Thank You!
