Well, I would miss my friends on "Coffee........" horribly if I left DG, because as far as I know, most are not here. And I've already said if they created a FB "thing" I did not want to be a part of that. So, because of my Coffee peeps I will continue my membership. They are my "other family", as I have met several of them, and the SU and I have been overnight guests at one's home a couple of times. I cannot give that up. I will put up with the horsepucky on the site for those friendships.

I don't blame you.
Maybe the IT issues are fixed now but the last I checked ( 2 months?? ) it seemed nobody expected anybody to respond to complaints or suggestions or even compliments! It was the subscribers keeping the threads going. It just amazes me that I have gotten several well function on time emails saying " your time is amost up..."

There are still issues, as far as I'm concerned (but what do *I* know???). I don't think they care. I don't think they listen and will "fix" them. Pathetic.

Anna,
That's a good reason to stay there. Those two forums have made lasting friendships.
It is pathetic.

I miss friends on "Coffee", but the way they handled the whole site got to be so pathetic that I eventually got fed-up and left.

The bottom line for me was the fact that there's nobody left on the gardening forums. It was ONLY for the Coffee friends that I stayed as long as I did. And I'd still be there if they hadn't really messed up the site last year.

DG ...IB...whatever can take a page from this transition...maybe a bunch of pages ..like a yellowpage book full.

In and out. They did another update, but the halls are haunted at DG- I like this site better after this update. I do love the FB Plant id site. Has ALL the experts on board for JUST ids. Am seeing folks here from years gone by and do feel at home I agree now if it would just quit kicking me out over here,
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

This is my first update here ...and has update pains from anticipation (mine)
And even th oI do not have an important function of the update because I am on an Ipad...
I think this really big change has gone beautifully..and the administrators are front and center.

Glad you are here and you like it too!

My DG membership was going to end on 9/29. (The programmers hadn't realized that it was supposed to end in mid-August.) Due to the friends I made and plants I got through the Texas Gardening forum that I caved and re-upped. Now I'm seeing most of the Texas gang over here, as well as lots of other friendly folks. wonder if I could get my $$ back. Always wondered why the Texas Gardening forum was one of the few where it was for paid members only. I could dream up a conspiracy theory but since I haven't read thru this entire thread, someone else might have done so already.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm here and will say no more.

Joan, Way back last spring or late winter, when DG was having a lot of problems, they added several weeks to everyone's membership. That would be why yours would have ended in September. At any rate, I don't know why they still charge at all since there's nobody there anymore who talks about anything. And you don't need to subscribe to access the plant files, etc.

@ViolaAnn - so that's why my renewal date changed. Dang. Thought maybe I'd pulled a fast one over on 'em. There are still a few Texans left that have 'crossed over'. And my peeps in the TX forum were the ones I'd go to for advice. No need to use the useless plant database.

I'm sure I'll settle in nicely here. I am starting to think that I'd better find something to use for my avatar b/c I keep seeing myself everywhere.

I don't like the change to this web site now. Why change it. It was easier to maneuver around before and find stuff. I dont go to either site much anymore.

Well, here we can still click on "garden.org homepage" and we don't have to click to the top, then home. And when we click on a watched thread it takes us to the newest post............don't have to click "newest post". to me that is the most asinine "improvement" they have made over there.

And most have been able to rearrange their home page to suit their tastes...see what they want and have easy access to favorite areas.

Not to mention administrators that listen and respond.

I found the "customizing" of the homepage to be extremely confusing. I did not like it at all. And I realize that I am probably in the teeny, tiny minority about that.
