Like you, I keep thinking about U S Thanksgiving, it's around that time that the weather makes a decision..

Sally .. 2 roads east of us by a few miles, have the same phenomenon happening. One side of the road is city, and the other side is country .. and I am not fibbing, but, when snow removal starts, the city does one side of the road, and, the Township does the other .. asinine !!

Another 60+ day on the rise .. clocks go back tonight .. will be darker longer in the mornings ..

Enjoy your day

Hurray! for the November weather this year! I just looked at the Weather Channel online site and there is no sign of anything like snow (or even rain) for us all the way to the 19th ... not that they can't change their story between now and then, but it makes me happy in the moment at least!

Marilyn -- the sun will actually come up an hour earlier tomorrow ... 7:35 a.m. in my case. Which also makes me happy Hurray!

Today is beautiful! I was laying out in my roof garden in my gravity chair getting some rays, there was a really nice cool breeze, white puffy clouds... perfect! I even took a picture for you.

Then I started watering everything, it hasn't rained for a couple of days and it was all too dry. Suddenly my partner starts yelling from downstairs that the house is flooding, turn off the hose. OK. I go downstairs and there is about an inch of water throughout the downstairs except only for the kitchen, which is a good thing as there are wood cabinets there. It's a mess, she has the wet/dry vac going but it is going to take all day to get it all up. I called our handyman guy and he was at another job so couldn't come and help, it's going to be a long day. Luckily for me, there is only one wet/dry vac so I am reduced to just being supportive Whistling

I took some more pictures for you.

The hallway where the drain well is which apparently stopped up and wouldn't let the water through.

Thank everything for polished concrete and tile floors. There won't be any problems once we get the water cleared up. Also glad I recently bought new couches but they haven't been delivered yet so I'm not concerned about the wood feet of this one.

So then I took a picture of the plumbago in bloom because it makes me happy and there is never too much of that.

86°f humidity 60% today. nice.

I love your roof garden area. Nice!
What is the drain well draining? Does it take out your gray water to use outside? I thought maybe it was an indoor fish pond!
Love your plumbago too! They bloom so well, and are so gorgeous. The only thing I hate about them is getting their sticky stuff in my hair when I lean in close to them. I took one out of the greenhouse and will plant it later today in a whiskey barrel in the yard. I'm hoping it will like partial sun.

The actual drain is in the floor past the fish pond covered by an aluminum grid. It only drains from 2 AC's and rain that lands on the roof. It was the water I used on the roof that was coming back up. That drain goes into what is commonly used here for rainwater, a deep well into the limestone. However, sometimes there are layers of a non permeable rock down there and apparently this one has that. It has never worked well and 5 years ago we added an overflow drain on the roof and rerouted the rain from a couple other terraces that used to go there. Now that all goes to the street and if the roof drain backs up more than 3 or 4 inches then it too goes into a pipe to the street. Problem is, that pipe was leaking and Friday they came and opened it up to check if they could fix it and apparently didn't get it sealed again. They are coming back Monday but this stuff always happens on a weekend.

Interesting! Now I understand. Of course! Everything happens on weekends and at night!

Jonna, I was going to ask where the water had actually come from...

I'm sure we can all relate to stuff happening on the weekend! But it sounds like that pipe is only affecting watering on the roof? so, bad, but could be worse... I hope they get it fixed quickly for you! Smiling

I've just got my fingers crossed that it doesn't rain until they get it fixed. The weather app says clear and sunny through wednesday so here's hoping they are right for once.

Had to post this. Of course, it only works in Fahrenheit. I'd never get out of bed if it were Celsius.

LOL, Jonna -- in the north we'd be spending an awful lot of time in bed, even in Fahrenheit terms! (Even James would likely have to spend the entire winter in bed here ... Hilarious! )

Yoikes .. re the time change,I guess I should have said, it'll get darker earlier D'Oh!

This morning we have woken to fog .. the temps yesterday were incredible for this area .. high 60s , the flies were even buzzing around ! Those temps plummeted over night to the low 30s, and, voila, fog ..
Lorna was all set to wash windows but will have to wait a bit ..

OMG Jonna .. as you say, good thing for tile and cement floors !! Murphy's Law, ALWAYS going to happen on a weekend !! Good luck with the clean up ..

LMAO RE THE GRAVY/TATTER RIDER .. too funny Rolling on the floor laughing

Have a 'rumbly tummy' pooch .. should go and tend to him and get ready to shift a king sized bed that he so nicely up chucked UNDER ..

Ciao

48 and sunny. I left a window open overnight so we woke up to a cold house. Heat has been turned on. I would have been just fine under a cover for awhile until it got warmer but they couldn't stand it. Hilarious!

All is well in the house today, all the water gone and the floors are clean. My partner though, says she feels like she got hit by a truck from running the wet/dry vac and moving the furniture. I got her a couple aspirin Smiling

Another beautiful day, 88°f and only 56% humidity. I'm going to go out and people watch, eat a hot dog and do some Costco shopping, We might go out to the beach and have shrimp for dinner.

Well it has been high sixties and low seventies in the daytime now for a few days, with lows in the high forties and low fifties.

A warm fall but I have seen these before as I remember Thanksgivings with highs in the seventies when I was a lot younger.

I have been putting of collecting leaves for burying the roses and it is hard to get that sudden urge to get it done because you waited too long when some trees have not dropped their leaves yet.

The rain finally found us. Here comes the cold front, along with the 60s and 70s. With time change, it being dark at 6pm, and 60F temps, it's officially Fall. I can't deny winters approach any longer.

Well James, it was kind of inevitable I guess. We are awash in sunshine and warm (to us) temps in November, mostly a rain cool month with temps in the 30s.

This morning it's 38 .. but expected to push on up into the 60s again .. we'll take it !
Haven't had the wood stove on yet .. it creates so much dust, but, the heat from the wood is just wonderful.

Have a perfect upcoming week, don't forget to vote ...
