Luckily it'll be highs around 77F and lows around 65F for a good while, once we level back out from being cold for the next few days. We may be seeing our last 80+ (on the island). Who knows though, this year's weather has been crazy. It might be 100 for Christmas.

I voted 2 Saturdays ago Thumbs up

Currently still raining off and on at 75F with a NE Wind. High today of 79F here on the island. Probably be gray and rainy all day.

I turned on the hot water for my shower for the first time since March. That's one of my signs that winter is here. Our water is pumped to a holding tank on the roof and then it comes down via gravity and the pressure is increased by a pressure pump. Most of the summer it gets warm enough up there that I don't need to turn on the hot faucet at all. Not this morning, it's been getting cooler at night and I guess the tank water is chillier. It felt pretty good though with the hot water, I've kind of been pushing the envelope this last week and it would take me a minute to get into the cold, woke me right up though.

The humidity is dropping too, I love that. I can tell because one of the old wooden doors to the terrace sticks all summer when the humidity is high. I tend to go around to the other one then. Today I opened it right up and it didn't stick!! Yay. It's dried out. This house is over 100 years old and the doors are probably original or at least not much younger. There are so many of them and they are part of the style but sometimes they can be a pain. They have old iron bars that drop into the floor to hold one side closed and those often fall at the oddest times. ka clunk! it used to really startle me. Anyway, I'm glad I have my winter use door back.

Another beautiful sunny day here, high temp of 60F... Thumbs up

We'll be voting tomorrow, too -- the only "early voting" in Michigan is absentee ballots, which we could do because we're over whatever age it is that qualifies you for that (62? 65? either way...), but we vote at our township hall which is just a mile down the road and it just kind of feels more "real" to vote that way to me -- or something Hilarious! . At least the robocalls and junk mail should stop, whatever else happens!

Nice day here, less sunny than expected and, windy, but, it stayed around 60F.

Jonna .. those doors sound heavy .. as for shower water .. ummm .. well .. we'd never be able to depend on sun warmed water .. mind you, this part of Canada does get more than the average amount of sun ..

Mostly sunny. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Pepper,
Cracking up! I don't dare leave a window open at night.

Jonna,
Now that is the way to have warm water! Oh, the shock of a little cold water almost makes me scream!
Wow, those are old doors!

Voting tomorrow as soon as the pols open up.

63 currently and all windows are closed. We even have the heat on because the house doesn't like to warm up in the cooler weather sometimes. Hilarious!

Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing. North wind 5 to 15 mph.

It begins. Four grandkids with runny noses. One coughing across the table as we played cards and I get a sore throat. Ever try to wave a cough away. It's there before you can get your hands up, lol!

Good morning ..

Won't be spending time on my hair this morning, it is WINDY out there, with a temp of 40F .. now, I could say there is a 'wind chill', but, too early for that LoL

Off to town early, a bud has to have her truck in for a recall fix .. a 2015 GMC .. airbags !
I'll pick her up and we'll go for breakfast .. FINN PANCAKES .. a favourite here in Thunder Bay ..
We have the largest Finnish population here outside of Finland ..

Best feed the canines and Blue Jays ..

80°f right now at 9am but predicted to get to 90°f. We have men on the roof chipping out the concrete to fix the drain, constant sound of hammer on concrete gets into your head quickly. Luckily I'm off to the dentist in a few.

These old doors are a termite resistant tropical wood called cedro but they are not the same as cedar in the north. They are not so heavy but the iron work that is used to close and open them is very heavy. They are all double doors so the iron bar goes up through an iron ring at the top and down into a hole in the concrete floor at the bottom. That keeps only one side opening unless you pull the bar. Unfortunately, the thingamabob (technical term) that holds the bar up tends to work itself around and suddenly the bar will drop. That can get your attention.

I'm off, I can't much more of the pounding this early in the morning.

Dentist done and the pounding has stopped, they are now putting down the cement which is much quieter. Here's a pic of one set of doors, I have 7 sets of these just on the first floor. You can kind of see the metal rod that goes up and another one goes down to hold half of it in place.

Sunny. North wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Jonna,
Where the chipping and drilling will get inside your head? LOL! Hope you had a good dental check-up.
Wow, really impressive doors! I can see how it would bang on the bottom.

Pepper,
You always did like a good snow, lol! I'm glad the weather has cooled off for you :o)

Marilynne,
I am so glad the constant phone calls have stopped.

I was down all day yesterday with a sinus headache and sore throat. I'm feeling much better today. I may have to sit in bed a while this afternoon to rest up and watch movies....
