Started getting the east side yard organized. Sorted the potted Iris into what I am keeping and what will be rehomed/donated. Designated an area previously planted with Iris for trying vegetables next year. Shorty is helping to make the planting decisions--the house will be hers one day and I think it is good for her to get involved now. :-)

Got these Iris planted today.

Holding this one for a NGA friend. Been in a pot for too long and I decided to take pity on it.

Blue Trill. Planted in back with my sister's stuff. Not directly related to the memory bed, she just liked it when she saw it blooming here. Thumbs up

Soon you will be known as the iris queen of TX, so many more lovelies. I love caryopteris have planted it several times, the cold winters here don't allow it to come back the following spring. I sure could use some of your energy.

Ginny, trying to keep that in mind when slinging the garden fork around. Big Grin

Betty, it grows and self-seeds everywhere in my yard--didn't even think that zones would make a difference. (duh me Hilarious! )

Heat sickness is easing up with the cooler temperatures. Yea!!! Still only manage an hour or so at a time, but can be a little more energetic than in past months, especially the last two mornings when it has been overcast. Bit at a time it is getting done. Replanted a NOID Peony that had to be moved for the rehab workers and was in a holding pot. Moved it further away from the house shadow than its original location. Thinking it will take a couple of years before it starts blooming again. Worth it, though, because it is one seriously pretty flower.

Planted seven Iris, most from an order I placed because of a voucher. And so glad I did--Winterberry Iris is great. No photograph anywhere I found for one of them (Heaven's Bounty), and three of them aren't in the NGA database--yet. Big Grin

From Tuesday:

Variegated Sedum always flops from the middle. Been told that condition is most likely due to the heavy clay and the fact that it only gets half-day of sun. Been coming back for six or seven years, now, so I keep leaving it in place (except for taking increases off of it).

More Spideys. Hadn't remembered planting so many, but I'm happy about forgetting. Hilarious! Nice surprise.

Shorty has anxiety issues and hasn't been able to even go for job interviews. Been slow going trying to help her.
Might now have more incentive, though. Her friend's dog had puppies (Chihuahua/Dachshund) and promised one to her.
The friend says she will hold it until Shorty has her own place. Since that will most likely be years from now (if ever), told her if she got a job and could pay for upkeep, we could have the dog here.

Shorty named her...ready?...I'm so proud...the dog's name is...Iris...awwww. Lovey dubby Hilarious!

Deb, Iris is a chiweenie ! My sister has 4.

Glad your ajuga is doing well, it happily spreads but is easy to pull up to move and share.
I'm thankful for these cooler days too. I'm debating when to pull my Siam Ruby banana tree. I've said to myself that I wasn't going to have to take plants inside ever again. Apparently I'm a liar. 😂😂

Lovey dubby She's cute, isn't she? But I am struggling to pay expenses for my two, sure not taking on a third hit to the bank account. If she wants the dog badly enough...

Even if the Ajuga spread aggressively, it would be mostly contained by the hardscape on all four sides. Although, I do like it well enough it could spread more if it wants to. Smiling

Now, now, no name calling. It is possible to be...mistaken...even with the best intentions in the world. Whistling Hilarious!

Happy birthday, my friend. Group hug Angel

Thank You! Debra, but we think you are the angel! Thank you for so many iris! I have an area that I made grid spots that I will plant them in. Your house is so cute and feels so calm and happy! The care and work you have done is reflected in how nice it is. The amount of plants you have blooming is amazing! The purples and reds are great! The delicate blue of the caryopteris is light and dreamy. What cute little precious fur babies you have! Thank you for having us come by and meet! May your family, home, and garden be surrounded by joy and peace!

On Saturday, for the first time in months, I was able to get in an afternoon work session in addition to the morning hour!
Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
Of course, what I was doing wasn't so happy--discovered that the middle Rose of Sharon tree was completely rotted at the base. I was able to pull it out with one hand. The roots were a different story Hilarious! , but even those mostly popped out easily. After it was out, I discovered that I will definitely need to put something tall in the space as the tree being gone from that section has created a direct line of exposure to traffic on the six-lane. Thinking a structure for Clematis or a Zepherine Drouhin climbing rose, but will figure it out later.
Thumb of 2016-10-10/lovemyhouse/824742

In the meantime, I put an Anouk Lavender in that space and a Caryopteris seedling diagonally across from it. This image was taken from the neighbor's driveway looking in to my yard.
Thumb of 2016-10-10/lovemyhouse/6a7b22

Also replanted a NOID Peony that was removed for the rehab workers. Moved it out some. Planted two pink Gerberas that I dug up from the memory bed and potted a few months ago. Also planted a Dragon's Orb Daylily fan that I separated from the clump when getting a couple of fans to ship a few weeks back. The Royal Maroon MDB Iris was already there in a holding pattern and decided to leave it. Had some other things to do yesterday and today, so didn't get out in the yard, but hope to get some more time in tomorrow afternoon. Thumbs up

I adore Dragon's Orb, it is so tiny and perfect. I have a miniature bed, DO bloomed early and rebloomed and rebloomed. I had daylilies blooming into Sept, it was a banner yr for them.
