Julia,

These are different accessions of S. wulfenii from different locations. This shows some of the different clones that have been collected. Note the yellow flowers and the bud-like center to the rosettes. I think we have in our heads that a species one should be all identical. Not true. Just like no two humans is identical, so it is with plants.

OK out to try a few photos while the sun is out. It was pouring just a minute ago.In general this is almost the dullest time of the year for the semps. They almost look drab.

This one Pia. Look at those big fat leaves, and the color is beautiful.

Great link again Julia.
Kevin I see what you mean about the rosebud center. And they are pretty much green year round. The blooms are beautiful.

Just came in for a bit to eat. One new bed done and the second on it's way to completion. Hurray!
While the guys are building I've been pruning roses, tri-color willow and went through the raised beds cleaning out the few leaves that were there, and an occasional weed. Not many of those so far. I also put out slug bait, the slugs are on the move, all over the lawn. Did all the beds and borders and even sprinkled some on the lawns. My Cyclamen coum has bright colors buds, C. hederifolium is not showing any signs of blooming yet. The tiny Iris reticulat 'Pixie' is blooming. Hurray!
Eriogonum caespitosum is coming out of dormancy, Polygala chamaebuxus is blooming, and buds are on the Gentiana dinarica 'Montenegro', and this is after digging up the Polygala and Gentian about 3 weeks ago and moving them to one of the borders along the creek. It also looks like Erodium 'Natasha' is coming our of dormancy. It is evergreen, but looks like it is starting to put on new growth.

Well, going to get something to eat and go back out. Hurray!

Opps, almost forgot to post the photos I took this morning.

Pia your plants look great! Hurray!

Here is a reply that I received from Don at SMG regarding new introductions - some exciting things coming, he didn't include pictures, I will see if he has any photos yet - once that happens I'll create a new thread for these and give the link on this thread. I am really curious about the variegated one he writes about = 'Brillante' Thumbs up

Regarding the new plants for 2016- I have 3 that I am reasonably sure that I will be able to release. These are 'Emerald City', a green one, with solid leaves and very nice emerald color esp. in winter.
'Equinox' another one with hard leaves. Turns an excellent green/copper color in mid-summer that I really like. Darker in winter.
'Brillante', the long awaited release of this variegated beauty. The best variegated one that I know of.
'Money Jungle' is a small tightly-clustered purple. I am not certain whether I am actually going to keep this one or not. I may grow it on for another season just to satisfy myself.

Also have 3 others that I am still looking at, but may not have sufficient quantities to release.
'Penumbra' is a large dark rosette with offsets on very long stolons.
'Dainty Dish' is, I think, an outstanding Semp. with two-tone color in summer and attractive dark in winter. Year-round interest. The name has nothing to do with the physical size of the plant.
'Sheba' which has similar characteristics as 'Dainty Dish' but is a different color.
I most likely won't have enough of these for 2016. Beyond that I have probably another half dozen that I haven't assigned a name to as yet.
I tip my hat to you.

Thank you Pia. It is lovely.

Thank you Greg. I also have it planted in the semp beds, the foliage is so small it doesn't make a big mess like many bulbs do.
I can't wait to see photos of Don's new semps. That is very exciting indeed. Hurray!
He shows a variegated semp that is gorgeous, on his Face Book page.
