I just posted one of Zaubergarten's amazing sempervivum collage photos into the NGA database. Here is an example. Love that you can see several months in one photo, showing the changes a sempervivum can go through in coloration, and some times form.

Would you all like to see more of this type of photo in the database?

YES! An I think it could be improved upon by being able to add dates under each photo to know when the colors were happening in the picture. And a location where they were grown: as far as I'm concerned there is hardly ever anything as too much information regarding growing semps.

Kate, it has the month on each frame, but I do like the idea of location.

Has anyone had any luck reading the sempervivum-list.de forums? In English? With Google Chrome's translate facility? Or any other? I'm using Chrome.
The cultivar picture gallery and descriptions works. But none of the forum information at all.
On the forums main page I get the results below. Translation is fine until the forum content begins. Same with any page within the forums section.

Tim, I'm not at home right now, I only have my little tablet with me and can not check that out.
Maybe I can use Mathuin's computer in the morning and check it out.

That'd be cool, Lynn. Although I suspect it's not possible. On the other hand I've been quite entertained tonight by: http://sempervivum-liste.de/ne...

Tim,

I don't use that one but I have had trouble using Google translater to do some of the hybridizer writeups. It does a great job on the cultivar lists. I am not a member of the site just a voyeur!

Kevin, you should be a member because... because... uhhh... I don't know but I'll bet there's some interesting information in those forums somewhere. There were some other posts about the progeny of super-star cultivars like 'Flasher' and 'Jungle Shadows'. Sounds like riveting stuff doesn't it. Don't you have hours and hours to spare pouring over hundreds of endless forum threads?
I think it may be a lost cause though. The forum pages appear to be constructed in a way that the Google/Chrome translator doesn't recognize the translatable content. It tells me the page has been translated but the forum portions are not.

From the main page, click the "Forum" link as is circled in the picture below. I then find myself with the untranslated page shown below. Google Chrome tells me that has been translated and some of it near the top is translated. Although the forum categories and titles below are clearly not. It does the some on my other computer. Shrug!

Love your tongue-in-cheek humor (sometimes not too subtle!!) Tim!

I do have a few other things going on in my life, like 3.5 acres of garden, playing in four musical groups and OH YES, writing a book on semps!

Finally knocked out the last chapter of the book. Now I'm doing a proofing of all the chapters and starting to put in the figures and their legends. Unfortunately this last 5% is the WORST. Very slow work I am hoping that everyone will find something in this book useful to them so I have written details both for the beginner and the more advanced semp grower. Also have lots of stories of the semp personalities too.

Kevin, I'm sure your book will fulfill most of our wishes and more. It would be nice to own some of your knowledge and wisdom all bound up in a book with your chosen photos to boot. Thanks for all your hard work and I hope you had much enjoyment putting it together as I'm sure you must have had a great time combing thru your memories to help enrich what you tell us in your book. Smiling
