That minimum low is probably that hour before dawn. Most orchids can take it for brief periods.
My poor orchids are so confused by our yoyo temps...90s last week, 70s this week, back to 90s by Wed. I'm at a loss for what to do with my Catt. dowiana. It's supposed to stay dry and dormant for the winter months, but it has a new 2" growth now, and our winter is months away. Thinking I'll keep it dry and cross my fingers.
We are as confused as our orchids. Well tonight is the last of the 30s weather. They are under blankets and tarp even in the day today and no watering. I told them they are in shipping mode! I may sprinkle and release them a bit tomorrow but 41 tomorrow night, then 47 then back in the 50s. The cymbidiums are gonna love this!
I spent some time today moving Orchids back inside - happily some stuff is blooming right now.
I bought the Fuchsara Crownfox in July 2010 and this is a first flowering for me! Two nice spikes are in the works.
Jumellea comorensis grew nicely over the Summer
Lc Love Knot coerulea blooms several times a year
The spikes and blooms on Vanda Robert's Delight and Ascda Peddler's Velvet Gold went through deluges and chilly temps and nibbling insects and so they don't look perfect, but I still enjoy them. They are now inside with the the rest of the large Vandas.
Fuchsara Crownfox is so pretty. You must be chuffed! I've never seen such a specimen of Jumellea comorensis! Love the sparkles on Lc Love Knot coerulea and those vandas look great, Ursula!!
Ursula, every time you post pictures, I can't belive how amazing the plants look!! That Fuchsara Crownfox is so nice! I've never heard of it before but its going on my wish list

I'm very impressed with both of your orchids! Beautiful show!
Kathy, I'm sorry the Gerberara has been so slow for you. You got the biggest division. Mine was very late this year, it usually blooms with Den. Kingianum and cointinues till cold weather, but due to our weird weather this year, mine didn't get going till Aug. They're all in the white phase now, with only one spike left to open. Tried to get a pic a couple of weeks ago, but Macafee ate it. Once I get a roof on my orchid shack, I'll work on the puter.
