Let me know what your propogation book says Cheri. Mine didn't have it in there! I was shocked! First thing I've run across that wasn't there when I looked. Felt like writing the author Smiling I guess she couldn't have absolutely every perennial... but this is the first I've found missing.

No.. just found it. Mine is the Gardener's A to Z guide to growing flowers from seed to blooms by Eileen Powell... Love it! Talks about seeds, but also other propagation methods. Set up like a reference book.

MIne is simply called Propagation Handbook and I still haven't found it.............. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I even cleaned all the summer clutter out of the sun room to prepare for things to come in. In fact, did bring my rosemary, bay leaf, jasmines, Cleodendron, and a couple other things in Oh yeah the lemon and lime trees. They suffrer under 45 and guess we're forecast for at least 40. Possibility of frost for tomorrow and Friday. Only going to get in the upper 50's for our todays high,, Then back to 70's near 80 next week. Will this stupid weather make up its mind already?

Took some pics yesterday of hubby's sunflowers that he planted where he shouldn't have, asters are beginning open slowly but surely, black eye Susans still inn bloom. Goldenrod still isn't opening, Autumn Joy sedum is coloring nicely. Haven't uploaded them but then there you are. I'm scatterbrained sometimes.

Kelly I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!! Smiling

It has nothing for doing seeds. Which prolly means they are finicky at best. They do show for Carypoteris stem cuttings; semi-hard (or semi-ripe) in fall and Hard cuttings in winter, 40 - 100 days with a 60% strike.. Meaning 60% will root and grow. Using bottom heat and misting, according to the author, will dramatically reduce the length of strike time.

That is what I found. The book is "Propagation HANDBOOK" "Basic Techniques for Gardeners, Author Geoff Bryant, in case you would be interested in obtaining one yourself.............. Quite useful really, I lose this book at least once a year. Every spring. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Shrug! What can I say? Shrug!

Lucy neon strips would have done absolutely nothing to help. It was stuck in a drawer with all kinds of junk on top of it..

Hmm, another one for the wishlist! Thanks for the info, I aim to try a bunch of cuttings this fall/winter. Got the hooks for the ceiling, so I can hang a light above the light shelves The shelves are too close together to do really tall stuff, so I figure I'll add one on top that can be for the stuff that refuses to stay short! I started some vines too early two years ago, and the darn things were trying to wrap around the light fixtures before I got them outside! Now, to get DH to put the hooks in up there...

I just put in three this summer. Now I have an idea of how quickly they should fill out. They're blooming quite prettily, but I think they need a trim. Do yours put out new shoots from the base or do you clip them like you would a bushy shrub?

Chelle, Before winter every year, I cut them back to 6-12 inches and they come back beautifully from the roots. I clip wayward branches back during bloom too.

I started seed in the greenhouse on April 10th in paper pots; then transplanted them out as soon as they were big enough. I've got them scattered all over everywhere! They're awesome. This is the first year I've tried them. These seeds came from overseas....they were labeled Celosia Argentea Spicata. Whatever they are, they're huge! Hilarious!
