Oh this is the thread for MEEEEE! LOL!

I have two NOIDs in bloom today, love them both. The first is shown in the following two pictures -- I had to share the profile shot because of that extreme curl going on there!

The color is a little darker than that last shot shows, but nowhere near as dark as this next one, which I got from a division from my neighbor last year. This is its first bloom for me, very nice dark flower.

Neighbor across the street just let me take a few fans of this bee pod noid. The average bloom is close to 3.5 inches and stands about 15 inches tall. Fans are pretty tiny, but stands up to the heat pretty good.

Cuzz4short,
Wouldn't that actually be a seedling (bee pod) and not a NOID?

I've wondered that very same thing, Larry. Love your NOID, by the way, but have NO IDea what it could be Hilarious!

Could a NOID and seedling be one and the same? If the pod and pollen parents are not known, yet it is known that it was cross-pollinated, a seedling that is never registered could be called a NO ID, I would think.

I have seedlings that I raised from seed, but since I know the pod and pollen parents, they are not NOID's to me, even though I will probably never register them.

Good subject for discussion Thumbs up

Good question! Only because I don't know the name of the mother or father. The neighbor's yard only have two yellow daylilies. One yellow that looks like Stella that is short and another lighter yet taller yellow.

They only have them for the color, but don't know the names and have had the clumps for several years. They said the purple one basically used to be yellow, but transformed one year... Hilarious! That's when I explained something was pollenated and that's a new plant

Here's the possible pollen parent

Maybe a noID-seedling??

I guess once I actually got into daylilies I thought of NOIDs as being plants with a known ID at one point that had been lost along the way. I thought a seedling was always a seedling until registered then it morphed like a butterfly into an expensive plant! Rolling on the floor laughing

Hilarious! Larry. I think if you move into a new house that has established daylily plants that are unlabeled, they would be NOIDs whether they were originally registered daylilies or whether they were seedlings. Because they have unknown IDs. E.g. if I were to allow a relative to take one of my seedlings and they grew it as a plant, which is how they grow a purchased daylily that has been registered, it would equally be a NOID because the source is not known. Just my take on it, though.

It was a bonus, so I'm not complaining (although yellow is not my favourite color..)
It's it's first flower ever in my garden , and I have only 1 fan.
It didn't open fully today, perhaps the others will and I will be able to take more clear photo's.

Suggestions as to which DL it could be are welcome Thumbs up

My photo doesn't show the colors right: It's warm yellow with a deep wine red centre

I got an answer from the nursery regarding my NOID / 'supposed-to-be' Thumbs up

Instead of Star of India it is Thunder and Blazes.. Whistling

Funny that all my NOID's are yellow..
Not my favourite color and not one I would order myself.
But now that they are in my garden they seem to grow on me... Hilarious!

Ok, blooming today is one of my many NOIDs, but it is the last one I really feel has a great chance of being properly ID'd.This photo was taken under bright sun around the middle of the day. I would appreciate some guesses, leads, or hints?

Metrolina Greenhouses response to my noID
"This one resembles Daring Deception. Could be a mutation/disease that has faded/changed the flower." Blinking Confused Confused

Here we go with the mutation theory. Is there a such thing. Can a disease do? The bloom was stunning without a defect. This in my opinion is a seedling if that's the case...I'll never order from big business again just because of this response. The others that were matched were Judy Judy and Alabama Jubilee. Mines aren't those either. Grumbling

Well, it could be a change due to a new growing environment or it could be a seedling (from a dropped pod down into the registered cultivar). I have actually had seeds sprout next to their pod parent without knowing it was not part of the original plant. I think it is lovely and it may actually change over time. But I like pinks and like it better than Daring Deception! *Blush* *Blush* Sticking tongue out Thumbs up

So I possibly found a match after searching several daylily sites today. Ill also attempt confirmation from Metrolina Greenhouses. My pics are from morning and afternoon. I took SEVERAL, but here's a few. Temps and time change the color fast on mines..
