Still enjoying all these great blooms.
Queen of the Night finally bloomed. I had 18 blooms, they all opened over a period of three nights and I missed the first night with the most blooms. Second night I got lucky and enjoyed the blooms and fragrance

This one is Dark Passion - another bloom on a cutting. This cutting has roots

Thumb of 2016-06-25/microb/04bea5

And here is that cutting that bloomed without roots

I have one last variety that has buds but has not bloomed yet this year which is Roman Holiday. It has some great buds coming so fingers crossed.

Hi, all. I have been gone for about three weeks. Two days packing, two weeks on vacation and four days jet lagged. I had an epi full of buds before I left and was worried that it would bloom out before I got home. Most were gone, but there was one in bloom when we got home. I was so jet lagged/tired I didn't get a picture of it, but another one bloomed two days later. More amazingly, the pink and orange epi and the light pink epi that I posted before were also blooming when we got home. Who knows what other blooms I missed. This has been a very long bloom season this year.

Another Noid white, blooming July 10th.
It might be a piece off of one I had.

Season has pretty much finished. One or two strictum still coming but other then that 90% of plants have finished blooming but have started to put our good leaf growth.

Will have to start a new "off season activity" thread to keep up to date with maintenance, fertilizing and cutting production otherwise we will all go into hibernation until next April.

I was noticing today that I am getting nice new leaf growth on my cuttings from last year and earlier.

I think it is about time to chop everything back and pot up some new starts. The old plants are so entangled that it's hard to see which plant is in bloom. Some of the straps are more than four feet long (with joints).

I also want to start looking at hanging baskets.

Carl, They are heavy so I have been using chain to make layered hanging pots. I am trying tree ties that are big zip strips. So far I have stack 3 pots that way. I notice a new setup that reminds me on the pole lights in the 60's (whoops showing my age) They kaleidoscope with a spring from ceiling to floor with swivel metal plant hangers. All version take up less room.

I have a question. I have an epi that has never bloomed. 2014 it had a bud that looked like it was going to open and the next am it was hanging down. 2015, no buds. This. Year 17 buds. Each one would get big and look like it was going to open and the next am would be hanging down. Not one opened. Has anybody had this. I'm am baffeled.

I don't know for sure, but maybe it is a night boomer. Do they only last one night?

That's my thought too. I have an E. oxypetalum that I haven't seen in bloom for years, because I don't go out there at night.

I would guess that what you have is E. oxypetalum. It blooms between 10 pm and midnight and then starts wilting before dawn. To see it, you need to go outside at night before midnight. It is worth taking the time to see because the blooms are large, beautiful, and very, very fragrant. It is still one of my favorites because of the scent and beautiful snow white bloom.

Not a nite bloomer. Coral pink blooms, I think its " whatta dream". The buds never open. They don't all droop overnight, I just notice most of them in the morning. You can tell when a bud has opened. These never have. Its not uncommon ,here at least, to have a bud not open now and then. I haven't had a plant not bloom any before.

Do you have a lot of temperature change at night? Or maybe too much rain? I can't think of any thing else that would cause them to drop buds.
