Steve - Thank you!!!

I can see the photos through that link. Wow! I could get lost in that link.

Sure wished more of mine would bloom. I have a handful of different cuttings, but they sure take a long time to finally bloom. Loving all the cultivars that are available! Amazing!!!!

Hi Steve,
I was a member of ESA for a couple of years. I think they are slowly improving their website and their quarterly bulletin is coming out more on time that it used to. The organizers are a small group based in California. They carry the name ESA but have yet to really get established. I'm not aware if they are putting together nationwide affiliates yet like the Orchid Society does.
Some members were commenting that all activities, annual banquet, meeting etc were limited to a few members in the California area so members across the rest of the country really got no benefit except the bulletin and website. But then you don't need to be member to get access to most of the website and although I dropped my membership a couple of years ago they still send me bulletins.
But then Epis have less general public appeal as they are seasonal bloomers and the blooms only last a few days so no real commercial interest like Orchids.
I give them credit for doing what they do and the website is interesting.

Yes Mike, I agree epis have limited appeal especially commercially, although we do have a nursery here that is pumping them out. (Paradisia).
The ESA produces the Directory where you can register new hybrids.I have a pal in Cal: ...they have some awesome hybridisers there, and the perfect climate of course.
Geneva Coats is running the ESA these days. She seems like a nice lady,(who likes Pommeranian dogs btw!).
Epis seem to have an addictive attraction somehow, don't you think?

This might have been mentioned already - maybe even by me - but if you use Facebook there's a great group 'Epiphyllum, trade, sell, buy, open for all!' (except it's a closed group so something's funny about the name). Just request or I can do it for you. There's a wealth of info and very helpful, friendly people.
https://www.facebook.com/group...

Identification of epis does get confusing. Especially when names are officially changed!

Due to our long colder than usual winter our epi show (which normally has 100 + epi blooms) only had a few small blooms and one large one...which was Ambrosia.
Here are some early smaller blooms out today.

And the best in show, Ambrosia. A huge bloom that occasionally blooms early!

I love the Fred Boutin.
I have an epi that's only labeled 'Yellow/White' but it hasn't bloomed yet. It's 2 years old so I expect it will bloom next year. Otherwise I might have to give it a good talking to. I recently made a lot of cuttings from it b/c Ms. Clumsy knocked it over. The mom and cuttings all still look good.

I thought I had posted this here, but I must have missed it.
Hurricane Matthew destroyed my greenhouse and as a result, I have lots of cuttings that need homes. I do not have the space to keep as many plants over the winter as normal and I have to trim back the ones that I do keep because now they will be forced to spend the winter in less than ideal situations ( ie. hubby's workshop).
I would like to sell some cuttings so that I can restore my greenhouse. Once the greenhouse is restored, I would happily go back to trading and sharing.
If you are interested, please send me a message. I will have tons of cuttings available.
Thank you so much, Linda

So sorry to read about your greenhouse and Epi losses. I know how you feel as I experienced the same after Hurricane Iselle a few years ago. I'm sure you and the Epis will bounce right back with a new greenhouse.

I read this yesterday and today my wife spotted a bud on our pink NoID. I'll post a photo when it blooms.

Always good to get a surprise Carl....except when your computer gets hit by ransomware like mine did yesterday!
Luckily there's nothing worth pinching on it but they have 'encrypted' a lot of my bloom pics.
Anyway here's a pic of a hybrid by Tony Hanson an aussie hybridiser whose epis mostly carry the 'Ulana' prefix.
One I like a lot, and out today.

My wife's computer got hit about a month ago. Luckily I had most of her photos backed up.

OMG, Ransomware? What will they come up with next? Grumbling Note to self, back up everything. Better yet, don't store anything vital on your computer. Sighing!

Yes really annoying.
I had all my epi stuff on an old desktop running windows 96. Big mistake. The whole thing has now died anyway.
Luckily I have most of it backed up on my laptop.
It may take me a few days to work out how to post pics etc:... which is a pain as my blooms are just about to start in earnest.
Being old and not too computer savvy it will be a challenge!

Steve, photos don't spoil like the blooms will eventually. So, don't worry about not getting them posted right away. They will be fresh blooms and look just as new to us seeing them for the first time. Take your time and have fun learning. You are never too old to learn new things, even technology wise. It may take a little more time, though . . . , so be patient with yourself. And we will wait patiently to see photos of your beautiful blooms, and promise to enjoy seeing them as much as you do. nodding

Thanks Deebie. I now have it worked out. Pics soon.
Ceci, good to see another epi fan posting here. I'm sure you also posted on epiforums.
