It looks like I'm going to have extra sempervivum. Green noids.

I'm looking for red hens and chicks to compliment my all-green semp containers.

Hey, I think the great garden center near Carlisle that I was trying to remember might be Ashcombe. http://www.ashcombe.com/

I might be making a run up that way myself on Monday, with a friend... we'll try to get an extra bale of two of Pro Mix, but I don't know how much room we'll have if we run into plant sales... LOL

Hey, I remember Ashcombe! Went a million years ago. I was new to DC, single and clueless about gardening. Bought a slew of tropicals, which promptly died.

Charming article about gals going on a plant excursion. This here gal has penciled in trips to Martin's and Black Creek on the destination to Renningers.

added a couple of irises to my list... not the best time to dig them, but plant or pot them asap and they should be fine. Dug LOTS of peanut butter babies and toddlers yesterday... everybody has to take one! JK, but it is a nifty shrub / small tree. PB scented leaves (when rubbed) and intensley sweet wafting fragrance from tiny white blooms. It did take a few years for mine to get big enough to bloom, but wow! Hummingbird magnet, too.

the suckering of PB Bush (tree) is the only reason I can see that everyone does not have one. LOVE the flowers and floral scent. Thanks Chantel for turning us all on to that. It does need a wide spot and access to keep up with the suckers.
Plant it and they will come.

Well, lilacs sucker, and people still love them.. but yes, it does help to plant PB shrub in a spot where you can dig around as needed to get out the suckers. You could probably also just clip suckers at the soil line if you weren't trying to make pass-along shrubs. You can also make it more narrow by only permitting 2-3 trunks rather than the 8 my bush currently has. (I haven't pruned it much.)

Joyanna and Sarah potted up a bunch of montauk daisy cuttings today, and I potted half a dozen pieces of a lovely little blue-violet dwarf bearded iris. I haven't dug the yellow one yet but will try to pot pieces also for those who are interested... I've added both to my list on the swaps tool. I also added 'Gypsy Queen' IB, a pretty older iris with rosy standards and purple-streaked cream falls. Actually, there seem to be 2 irises known by that name -- mine isn't the "true" one, apparently, because of the rose tint to the standards, but it sure is pretty!

What else should I be trying to root? Does anybody want either black pussy willow or crooked willow?

Makes my heart happy that everyone loves that PB shrub. Lovey dubby I agree other than the suckering if you have room - why say no? I absolutely love mine and as always have some toddlers/infants to share if there's anyone remaining that doesn't have it yet Rolling on the floor laughing The wildlife adore it...as Jill said the hummers...also the hummer moths (creepy things but cool at the same time) both monarchs and the pretty blue butterflies...the other birds like the berries come fall and I've found nests made in mine (who knew). Of course on a selfish note...I planted it due to what I'd heard about the scent of those blooms....

Oh and I've got 2 NOID Asiatic Lily bulbs (they are either Coral Sunrise or Dolly Madison - sorry...markers went MIA a very long time ago) that I'll dig up if anyone's interested.

I'll pot up the PB shrubs with 2-3 shoots in a pot; that way you'll have multiple trunks to start with. I stuffed them all into a bucket for the moment, but I'll get them potted asap. I added 6 pots to my list just now.

I also added SEDUM assortments... most of my sedums have lost their tags, so I'll just divide them by short or tall. A lot of my taller ones will bloom in some shade of pink, since that's what I gravitate toward. Like many of my entries, these say "potted or bagged" -- and that means I'll pot ahead of time if I get to them, but with lots of other prep to do you might end up with a baggie full of cuttings or rooted pieces instead. Sedums are easy, so that shouldn't be an issue. You are also welcome to break off a piece of any sedum that appeals to you as you walk around the garden... even the new ones can spare a tip cutting.

Does this peanut butter shrub have a formal name so I can look it up and see how much shade it will tolerate?

Warning: oddball request. Any palm size stones (or smaller) from y'alls yards you'd like to bring - I'd appreciate. My lil flower bed is on a slope and is infringing on the sidewalk a tad. HOA Grumbling likes to send love notes about this (I wish they'd take up a hobby that didn't involve my yard). Anywho...going to use my newly bought spade thingie and create a narrow moat between my bed and the sidewalk. I thought pretty stones would look nice. I've got lots of quartz on the back hill but welcome any goodies y'all come across in your yards.

I've been putting both the botanical name and common name for most of the things on my list... depending on how I enter it, sometimes it's listed alphabetically by one and sometimes by the other.

@RobinBunch5, I did note that you want Pro Mix. SSG wants a bale, too. I'll see what we can fit in our vehicle when we make a run up to PA... I have some older bales from last year, too, so I'll see what's left when I'm done potting this spring.

I'll also set up a "potting station" so people can pot up things they've dug on the spot or pieces that somebody has shared that day.

Jill, I don't need a bale if the potting mix this year but thanks for the offer to pick one up.
I think I may have to try a PB bush too.
