critterologist said:Rick, the L. punctata got started in my place when I pulled a hunk from a friend's garden and put it into my foundation bed -- which at that point was pretty much unamended clay with mulch on it, just as the builder left it. Just be warned -- once you have it, you have it. It's not hard to pull up, but it's almost impossible to get it all without using an herbicide, as the roots break off easily. I'll try to get some dug and added to my list before the swap.

Jill... If I can get rid of bamboo, I'll be able to get rid of this at some point. Actually, I may put it in a bucket or something to contain it (cut out some of the bottom and then sink it in the clay).

Thanks.

Good idea! And not that it makes a big difference in growing it, but when listing that plant I figured out that what I have is L. ciliata, purple fringed loosestrife, probably 'Purpurea' or something similar. My friend called it "circle flower," a name that probably refers to its ability to grow outward in a circular pattern from the original sprig.

Sally, a big clump of "weed" with familiar-looking leaves just started blooming -- you guessed it, yellow blooms. I thought the leaves were attractive, so I hadn't pulled it, and I think now I'll just transplant it to a better spot. I'll have to check David's descriptions to see if what I have is the plant you have or the "other one" LOL.

Jill, Lysimachia ciliata purpurea has purple vegetation, yellow flowers with rounded ends to petals, L. punctata foliage is green and the flowers have pointed petals, looking like yellow stars. Is this the info you were looking for?

David, the leaves on mine are definitely purple, and the L. ciliata bloom photos seem to fit. You'd think I'd have a photo of the blooms on mine to be sure, but noooo. Anything I've pulled in quantity -- this plant, mint, vinca, jewelweed, obedient plant -- doesn't seem to get the time of day from me when I have my camera in hand! LOL

I have Lysimachia ciliata purpurea ('Firecracker'), and it's been shared among us, so I suspect that's what you've got too Jill.
Plant it and they will come.

@Sallyg I see you have added some choice plants over on our Haves and Wants thread!

I really love the Rudbeckia triloba so pretty pretty please set me aside as many as you want! Same for BES both kinds and a Bottlebrush buckeye please. And, since you can leave them at your house along side f your new garage rather than pack up and transport to Swap, a Packers and a spiderwort.

Requesting from you:
1 Aesculus Bottlebrush buckeye - seed grown and or well rooted branch.
1 Packera, native groundcover
1Tradescantia spiderworts, virginiana/hybrid- purple, pink
(many?)Rudbeckia triloba- tall black eyed susan- five feet tall and will spread!
(many?)Normal perennial black eyed susan
(Many?)Narrow leafed black eyed susan, perennial, or possibly is a coreopsis that has BES coloring

What is an orchid pot?

Would you grow a Purple Milkweed and a Green Comet Milkweed if someone happened to leave them at your house?

Are you doing your plant mobile uber* ride to Frederick? Any room and pillows available?

*The Very Best

MariposaMaid, I will edit my HAVES post and start potting those up for you
Thumbs up Thumbs up
remember there are also some Stella D'oro's and a Helianthus (?) that I was holding for you from Gita (Helianthus not emerging from pot yet, cross fingers)

I'm sure I'll find room for those milkweeds, if you happen to have extras. Not sure what my Syriacus will look like this year, but I'm sure it is there somewhere. Tropical should be in good shape.

Just kidding (sort of) on orchid pots. Phalaenopsis did better in a pierced glazed pot I found at the produce stand/odds and ends market on Veterans near me. so if anybody had tried those with orchids and gave up, I could adopt the pot. (I might have a terra cottta one from Jill in the shed)

Oh yes, the van is open for business, pillows and heirloom crochet throw part of the deal Thumbs up
Plant it and they will come.

Sally there was at least one orchid pot in that whole group of orchids I brought to divy up several years ago...

Also meant to inquire about your eggplant seedlings? I'd love one and it looks like Ellenore, friend of @NisiNJ would love one, too.

I somehow missed whether Holly and Ric will be attending????

Sally, I don't think my Lysimachia is 'Firecracker', as the leaves (especially the new ones) seem more purple than red-burgundy to me. I got mine from Theresa (my friend whom several of you have met) shortly after we moved to our house. Smiling

Francine, I've asked Dave to add you (and a few others) to the list of participants via the "seed swaps tool," but it looks like he hasn't had a chance yet... I tree-mailed him again just now. You can still start a list of your plants with the swaps tool; you just can't check them off for this swap until Dave enrolls you. See this post at the top of this thread for details... and please don't be put off by the length of the explanation; I use a lot of words when I don't want to leave anything out! http://garden.org/thread/view_...

Meanwhile, you can go to the "haves/wants" thread for the swap and post a list there of what you ahve and what you're looking for... make just one post and edit it with changes as you go along so you can keep track.

I'd love a little piece of any of your hostas! I'll put dibs when you list them on the swap tool, or you can note "Jill wants a piece" on your haves/what post. Thanks for offering them! Smiling

Jill, may I buy some of the moisture crystals, about a pound each of medium and large?

Robin, I'll check my supply, but yes I think so, unless I've mixed all the large with medium already.

For everybody -- I put some information about moisture crystals and marking pens on my "haves" list. I'll also be listing mixed caladium bulbs (should be around 50 cents each) and any extra lilies or colossal caladiums from our group buys this spring.

I'm thinking I'll be setting up a sale table for items like this, basically available "at cost." If you request them ahead of time (to be sure of getting them, for one thing), I'll put them with your plants... and if you already have a group buy spreadsheet going for spring, I'll add them to your invoice. Or, take items from the table and give me the $ -- honor system.

If anybody else wants to put items on the "for sale" table, feel free. Just be sure they are clearly marked with both the price and your name. If they do not "sell," you are responsible for them at the end of the swap.

Jill, if you have mixed the medium with the large that's okay, just a pound or so will do.
