I took the photos early in the morning, it was overcast, so without the warm sun rays, it comes out darker. And it's shaded by the rose too so doesn't get much fading from sun.

Ok, so where is everyone ? I thought this forum would be filled with a lot of action and threads and posts ............

So, anyhow, I went to LOWE's yesterday to buy some grass seed and spackling cement, and made my way into the Garden Center - it was raining - there was no roof over the Garden Center, like Geeeeeeeesh, so I wandered around and low-and-behold, I found myself a potted Clematis -
Clematis Dr. Ruppel. It was the only cultivar they had. SO I picked one up, and figured, what's
one more - now I have a total of 7 Clematis to take care of all Spring and Summer. This potted
Dr. Ruppel is loaded with leaves and buds, so I'm hoping to see some flowers soon.

So, how is everyone else's Clematis Season going thus far ? Smiling

That's a great find, Alan. Several years ago Lowe's had Dr. Ruppel and a few others but I hesitated and they were gone. I haven't seen them again at Lowe's.

My Princess Di, Rooguchi, and Jackmanii are blooming. I got the Jackmani and Bees Jubilee last year at a local nursery. Princess Di and Rooguchi are my favorites - they are consistent bloomers. I too have a small collection...

@AlanJ, congrats on getting Dr. Ruppel, it's a lovely clematis. I had one that I kept potted for 2 years, and it got planted in the garden several weeks ago and is already blooming b

Annette, I love the photos! Thanks for including overall shots in addition to the bloom close ups. I like seeing the different ways people are using to display them. I only have a few clematis that I have growing on trellises. I want to incorporate more into the gardens without necessarily having trellises to accommodate them all, so it is neat seeing them growing on fences and in pots. Some earlier posts here shows them weaving through other plants and over a stump, and I like noting which ones seem to grow to the magnificent heights like Mayleen.

There's no room for sarcasm in these forums Suzanne ..........

Anyhow, Thank you all for the congrats on my newest acquisition of Clematis Dr. Ruppel....
I bought it at Lowe's in full leaf and bud ....unbelievable. It looks ten times better then the
clematis I bought mail-order which are growing and leafing out very very slowly. I'm not even
sure if I will have blooms from them this season. I have 3 more Clematis coming in the mail
tomorrow - one to be planted in an Urn, and two to be planted in the ground.

So, 5 of my Clematis are planted in Urns, and 2 of my Clematis will be planted in the ground.
I also have 2 Iris gardens, and 2 potted David Austin Rose bushes. So I will be very busy all
Spring and Summer taking care of all these plants. I can't wait ! Hurray! Thumbs up
