I finally finished decorating our tree last night. I find that now that our kids are grown and living in their own houses, the incentive to decorate is greatly reduced. I find myself thinking ahead to how I'm going to have to put everything away afterwards!

Still,....Terri, your house looks stunning!!

Rick, while celebrating my son's graduation, a plant word came to mind: Saprophytic. Three kids, four degrees, zero money left.
Say, got any hyacinth left to sell?

I actually got them all planted. About half are in the ground and half in pots/tubs/etc. We should have a swath of about 30 along the driveway. There are another 30 in two tubs and 30 more in pots The tubs and pots will be moved out to the front when they're about ready to bloom.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Lisa--Happy Holidays to you and yours!!!

Rooting Epis is easy. They are like succulents.
Take a piece of it--and shove it in a pot of soil. Then wait.
No need to use rooting hormones. Just a Pro Mix type of soil.
Do mind the nodes so you get at least one under the potting mix.

Do not water much--if any. Put near a window--and dribble a smidgen of water
on it once in a while.
They will root in a matter of weeks. Easy-Peezy!...

Best to you in the new Year!! Gita

Lisa, your "neck of the woods" made the front page of the Washington Post today (in case you didn't know) in an article about gridlock and squabbles cause by Secret Service security steps.

Maybe it would help if the Secret Service "gave back" to the neighborhood by being on the lookout for pie-stealing bandits? Hilarious!

Yep, found pie pans in firewood stacked below the deck.
After next pie-baking frenzy, I'll store them inside the gas grill. Tell no one.

Just make sure to plug the holes in the firebox and lid. Otherwise, some enterprising chipmunk will feast!

I recommend a large ice chest, maybe weighed down with something heavy.

I'd be concerned with using an ice chest. Being a closed environment, it may get too humid and make the crust soggy.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that.
Okay, how's this? Lisa should make room in her fridge by putting any wine, beer or other drinkables outside, and hope that the Secret Service doesn't drink on the job!

I'm guessing it has something to do with the over abundance of house guests and subsequent food requirements.
