Boy does it ever....
About 6.9 trillion gallons of rain pummeled Louisiana between August 8 and 14, according to meteorologist Ryan Maue.
That's enough to fill more than 10.4 million Olympic-size swimming pools.
Be glad you only got the edge of things, Jean
@rocklady Here in Ascension parish, we got over 20 inches of rain from Thursday night through Saturday, and it has rained off and on everyday since with more rain chances predicted every day throughnext Thursday. It moved to the west of us, toward Lafayette and the Texas coast. But, a few million gallons are still flowing down through our parish and many more homes are going to be flooded.
Muddy Creek, about 1/4 mile down the road from me, horseshoes around and flows into Bayou Manchac. The Manchac runs east-west behind us and runs into The Amite River. The Amite hit flood stage,(46+ft) which pushed water back into the Manchac and Muddy Creek The Manchac, at Muddy Creek crested at 21.4 Ft. and flooded all but two properties, some with minor water incursion, and the rest with major damage. My home sits on the highest point at 21.8 Ft, with my nextdoor neighbor at 21.7 Ft.
We were well and truly smiled on.
