Our speaker last night at the Orchid Society was Mary Garritsen. I thought her talk was going to be one of those informercials that we got to pay to watch.

She was GREAT! No infomercialing at all. She is an expert on miniature orchids - her definition is anything that the entire plant grows to less that 15 cm high. Of course, then she showed a photo of a plant that is about 3 feet across. Oh, and flowers don't count in that measurement.

So anyway, her slide show was all about seeing these orchids in the wild. She has traveled all over the world photographing miniature orchids in situ. Awesome!

Lots of lovelies to enjoy, folks! So glad you struck it rich at Publix, Lindsey. I wonder if ours will have anything interesting . . . next week when I get home. I am closer to Daisy than anyone else right now, I suspect. No Publix here either. Count me in on the day before yesterday shopping trip? I need another Iwan. Apple Blossom in the worst way. Had a nice one but I moidered it. That one looks like the right color to me, once it opens up although the yellow one is very nice, too.

Would have loved to hear that speaker on the miniature orchids, Daisy. Lucky you! Patty wanted me to come to the Orchid Society meeting on Monday with her, but of course I was on a plane, or already here greeting grandbaby. Next month for sure, I will be joining our local group.

Lindsey those are beautiful Lovey dubby now, you will make me run to Publix too. We have one that brings beautiful orchids around this time of the year. And that little Baggie plants from Lowe's is beautiful.

Ursula, that den is a beauty and will browse the links for sure.

My Yamadaara Redlands Sunset that I purchased in Lowe's small baggie, May of last year bloomed! I'm impressed, the actual color is more intense similar to this packaging picture. It has multiple spikes and buds. Not bad for a first time bloom. This is attached to the oak tree, I guess it loves it there! I did not detect any fragrance yet.

It's a beauty, Gigi and you sure are doing well with those Catts attached to your oak tree! Some of mine take a few days after opening before they develop fragrance. The flower parts have to mature before the plant attracts its pollinators, I think.

I still have a while to stay and help out here in Salt Lake, before I can see what's blooming at my house. My house sitter says there are "flowers out there" but she's not able to send me any pictures.

I did take a couple of pictures of my Den. aggregatum just starting to open, before I left. Did I post these before? Really hoping there will be a few little yellow flowers left for me to see. There was one spike that was a few days behind the others.

That is a lovely Redland Sunset! I am back in the land of the living!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

We moved! The orchids are in a temporary home on our deck. We used a Harbor Freight car shed and two of the popup canopy frames.
Here is the move with the two canopies inside the U-Haul.

Gigi...I MUST have that plant, Redlands Sunset!!!!! Drooling
Elaine, the nights have been pretty cool..in the 50's here...hopefully that will slow things down with your beautiful yellow Den. I bought one in a bag from Lowe's and see it's putting out new growth now.

Nicely done, Melissa. It's good to have you back.

A couple of new ones today. First is Cattlianthe Jewel Box (Guarianthe aurantiaca x Cattleya Anzac (1921)). This is the first bloom to open but there are many buds still working. It looks like it has a cleft lip. Hilarious!
