I don't remember having to have a password for ATP, so it is good that I never log out. When DH and I start up the computer every day, we always click "restore previous session" and I have all my ATP tabs.

Congrats Dave and Trish!

Another small glitch that I am seeing ....

When I click on my "ATP" tab in favorites to login, it brings me to the login page, but shows the bottom of the page. I have to scroll up to login.

Just a minor glitch, but a bit annoying. I should be seeing the top part of the page, not the bottom part of the page. The first time I saw this, I thought I had clicked on an unknown link as I did not see the login section of the page or the NGA logo..

Hmmm, I stopped visiting the NGA site because I perceived it as stuffy and old. I am sure Dave will fix that and bring it into the new century but that is what is stuck in my head.

I like the name, I alway had trouble saying All Things Plants, was like a tongue twister to me Whistling Hilarious!

If you are having trouble getting back to home page and you use bookmarks just add NGA then delete ATP. I did that and didn't have any trouble. I never log out so I didn't have to log in again either.

I don't see how to log out if I even wanted to. All seems to be working fine without doing so, but just for info could someone tell me what you do if you want to log out?

Actually, I am now getting really picky, I apologize ahead of time. Why have the new logo twice over the banner. The round one on the left looks nice and is functional. I think the fat writing over the banner distracts from the look of the pretty banners.
Every time I look at it, my brain cringes every so slightly. I am on an IPad, perhaps it looks more balanced on larger screens.
Ok, I am ducking and quickly slinking away.....

I'll be changing the banner soon. It is very big, primarily because I wanted original visitors to Garden.org to see the name that is familiar to them.

Keep in mind here that there are 3 times more people who go to NGA's site prior to this merge, then there were ATP members. They are also having to adjust to a completely different site than what they were used to. Seeing "National Gardening Association" in a huge font on the top of the page provides some comfort and continuity to them.

Eventually I think we'll remove that and just have the circle logo and maybe a smaller "Garden.org". But I want to leave it as it is for a few days at least.

Excellent point. Other than the name and some additional links in the sidebar, we are basically seeing the same site as always. It's the regular NGA visitors that are having to make a huge adjustment to what they are use to seeing.
Dave one suggestion that is way down on the priotity list is to improve the favicon, it's almost invisible. Perhaps eliminate the white ring and lettering which can't be read anyway, then saturate the colors in the central portion to make it stand out.

I agree with you about that favicon. Improving it is going to be a challenge. If you want to take some time and see what you can do, that'd be great. Otherwise I'll be working on it over time.

I might make an attempt later, but like I said, way down on the priority list.

Well, I am an older gardener and I don't like change but this isn't really a change for us. We are still all here. Dave and Trish are still here working hard and being patient. We are still allowed to grumble and poke fun at the new name without being censored. Our particular favorite threads are going forward with our same site families and perhaps we will get some new family members soon. Everyone has a nation.... I hope. Just because this is owned and ran by Americans does not mean all nations are not encompassed.

Imagine how we would feel if Dave and Trish had sold ATP to the NGA and we were being incorporated into them. SAD, uncertain, cautious. So, lets hope the words over the banner does make the original NGA members feel very welcome. We want to join with them not take them over. Yes, we all loved the All Things Plants name but only the name has changed. We are still the same great site with the same great people. Go NGA!

Im in the middle of a large corporation merger. Its been 5 years of fighting and bickering of, "Our way is better than your way" and which traditions to keep. And yes, there is some comment about, "that way is too archaic" . It has been anything but a smooth transition with loss if redundant jobs, moveing to other cities, paycuts and irritating IT issues to boot. The 5 year long changes, nunerous revisions, and updates every "Monday, Wednesday and Friday" are overwhelming! Will there be changes for former ATP members? If course! Will there be changes for NGA nembers, most definitely! Trust me when I say, that the merger of ATP and NGA has gone smoothly and seemlessly with no interruption says tons about Dave and Trish's ability. Kudos to a job well done! Hurray! Looking forward to "meeting" new friends from "the other side".
