Well, after hunting online for ages to find Zip-Locs cheaper than Wal-Mart, I finally found something. I forget whether it was cheaper, or looked better. Anyway, I bought 1,000 or 2,000 to get the price break. Needless to say, I have a lifetime supply now ...

Plus I have some bigger 4 mil Zip-Locs with extra-clear plastic. I gave most of those to a friend, but kept a few. When I'm trading, and all of one person's seeds will fit into a 4"x6" (I think) Zip-Loc, I use those to "bundle" packets together. Usually I use a sandwich Baggie, and tape it closed. The Sandwich Baggies take up much less room than a sandwich-size Zip-Loc.

P.S. The Franchi pole beans did not require a bigger Zip-Loc. These beans were around 1/2 gram each, and a 2x3" Zip-Loc holds almost 2 Tablespoons. I only needed 1 to 1.6 Tablespoons to get 35-55 beans. I offered 4 each of three varieties, and kept around 3 pkts of each for myself.

Rick! Of course there will be plenty of zins to go around. You know I won't forget you. :)

Very kind offer on the ziplock bags, Dnd and Rick. I bought a pack of the jewelry baggies which really were not big enough in my opinion. They were not 2x3's. I do know that. You should keep your baggies though. You will need them. And as Jimard said, we're gonna get em anyway, lol. Smiling

I bought some 1.5" x 1.5" 2 mil Zip-Locs once, because I was in a tomato-and-pepper swap where the recommended trade pkt size was only 10-20 seeds.

But then there was no room for the verbose labels I like!

I'm sure it was probably mentioned before I started keeping up with the threads, but I want to make sure I have my times right, so I don't noob it up. If the swap starts at 12am GMT on the 3rd, that means it starts at 5pm PST on the 2nd, right?

Greenwich is 7 hours ahead of PST, but I never remember which way Daylight Savings goes.

But I think you're right: we start bidding at 5 PM the day before.

Rarely remember if it was 5 or 7 pm here
Always enough goodies to get a few of those first choices .

From last years swap here , a slightly different winter and so on , But I had a Brighton Rock Snapdragon come up last night , That is this past winters wintersow ,
Obviously changing weather even slight as it is ,is giving me concerns about when to start , Still only proves a seed will grow when it is good and ready too ,and not before ,
Things like that all this season ,
Having a lot of small plants ,just now showing , lets hope fall is long and winter mild , I am

I like old fashioned Jimard. I'm a classic type of girl. I've always been that way. The new fads rarely stick around like the old timeless things do. I think the color will work with some things I have going on.

Karen My opinion is the things that are old Fashioned are around for a reason
Those petunia from new seeds might be any color ,

I am hoping at this time that my offers will all fit in a box , It is getting close ,

Hoping I have time to finish labeling as the last day of the swap I will be expected out of town , Family does not take well to absence , although I could ... Plenty of time there is ... Smiling

Yes, I think it is. Today is all about organizing/finalizing many of my seed entries. I imagine others are doing the same. Definitely the calm before the storm...

Forgive me if this is already posted somewhere, but where and when do we send our $7 fee? Can we just include a check with the seed packets? Or do you take PayPal?

I can take PayPal now (it wasn't an option previously), but most people simply send it in the mail with their seeds (check or cash). It's up to you.

I apologize if this has already been answered ...

Say someone posted a wishlist item, and I went hunting for that, and found it.

Is it "naughty" to hold it back from the swap until the bidding dies down and people have tickets that are not BURNING a hole in their pockets? I suspect that I'll be finding these things during the hectic phase.

What I wanted to do was to Tree-Mail the person who requested it , and let them know that I'm going to add it at a certain time. Then, since they may still be particularly eager to get that certain thing, they can be all ready to bid it as soon as it appears.

(This is to avoid the case where someone else was not ESPECIALLY eager to get it, but had tickets left, so "might as well grab it as leave the ticket unused".)

The thing is, once I've spent time hunting for something "For So-and-So", I particularly want to give it to So-and-So.

(The reason NOT to just slip it into their baggie secretively is that they may have changed their minds and NOT be really eager to get that, now. I figure that after a few weeks of trading, one's garden plans may change enough that something eagerly sought a month or two ago is no longer wanted very much).

Rick, I don't see any real harm in that, as long as it doesn't become a habit (with you or among other members). Rolling my eyes. I don't think it will cause any harm to do it for one or a couple of items, though.

On the flip side, though, if you put it in at the start and someone bids on it early on, even if it wasn't the person who you thought might take it, you at least know it went to someone who really wanted it... Just a thought, I'm not saying you need to do it that way. Honestly, do what you think is best. Thumbs up
