Can anyone confirm for me that you received my Tree-Mail that I sent out within the last hour? It was the first time I've sent a Tree-Mail to multiple recipients at one time, I believe, and I wasn't sure if the mail-to box was comma delineated or used some other format for multiple recipients.

@DogsNDaylilies Got the tree-mail. I'm getting very excited! So many great seeds on the list. It will be hard to decide... The best thing about this swap (besides the obvious seeds) is it gave me a reason to start learning about saving seeds. I'm sure to have more next year!

Thanks, Littlecheryl! I am definitely going to offer them.

I'll decide on a packet size tonight. Last time I did a 1/2 tablespoon, but I didn't have as many of those as I have of the "Emerald" pole bean.

Jessie I agree About the mail , fun reasons to be here

DnD as long as they have some draining earth to grow in , You can eat the bubils or cook them in pasta or sauces My bulbs rarely grow right so I usually harvest and use the bubils (takes a couple seasons to start ,
Earth different places , some of you can grow the garlic easily I'm sure , only not me here ,
I still get garlic to use being the goal , Smiling

My weed patch is overgrown , I am dodging the Garden spiders , pretty good size those things , I cut the lawn yesterday while typing here today I am weed cutting , then resting and typing and then , Hilarious!

Dnd, I got my tree mail! Thanks!

Jessie, you're going to have so much fun. And the closer we get to the deadline, more will be added. I still haven't finished mine. What will you choose? Lol. She's going to be like a kid in a candy shop. But don't feel bad, I'm that way when I go to our nursery. It's just a little slice of heaven for me. Smiling

Jim: about your zinnias on the "Seeds" thread:

I have some old Benary Giant seeds from Hazzards, so I had packs of all-one-color. Probably all out by now.

I think my favorite commercial packet was some very mixed thing , "California Giants"? Anyway, there was a lot of variety in there. Zinnias are one species that can look like totally different genuses. Genera?

Don't want to cause thread drift in a thread that actually HAS a fixed topic!

California Giants and cactus type seem to be old mixes , love them both truthfully , they all cross pollinate at a breath ,

Rick it says off Topic . like while we joking yesterday I was cutting the front yard with a lawnmower , Hilarious!

I was wondering how many people saved wear on their "page down" key by ignoring me, but Dave says not to worry.

I forget if I have any cactus zinnias. I once saw a red cactus dahlia that I loved, and some day intend to acquire some.

I put that in the thread title so it would never have thread drift. I meant "so we don't give the Seed Dscussion thread too much drift.

Ella used to threaten to pin my ears to the barn door, but DND only threatened to beat me with a rubber baton. Kidding, I know! It takes a cattle prod or Taser to curb my fingers when that monologorhea virus kicks up.

You guys are funny! ;D

I grew Calif Giants last year and I am happy when people list some of their wants, because frankly, I wouldn't have listed some that I have if Ididnt see someone was looking for them

DnD got your Tree mail re: the swap - thanks!
It was especially pertinent for me that you pointed out the swap start time (server time vs. EST time) because I was going the other way!
Apparently time zones are not my strong suit. I can do Boston to Calif or Boston to France, tho!

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been a busy bee, so I haven't been following the treads. But now that the swap is a little closer, I plan on being present. I'm working on getting my list compiled. I'll probably have it done within the next few days.

DnD -- Thanks for the Tree Mail. I needed that reminder that the swap was actually getting close. Thank You!

Hey Erica!

It's great to see you again! I've just gotten in because Val sent me an email so now I'm making my way in as well. I've missed everyone this season but it's been such a great summer. Glad to start seeing everyone coming back now. :)

Jimard - I have both Cactus Zinnia (orange only for now) and the California Giants (mixed). The zinderellas and the queen red limes fall in the same height category if you're looking for something like that. I will list both tonight for you. If you don't want them, someone else may. Smiling Kind of funny but I only made my mind up tonight before I sat down and came in that I would list the Cactus Zins. I got it by accident. A happy accident though. I had to buy dreamland zins this year at the nursery and well after I planted these one came up. Before you know it, I had quite a few so I started saving the seed. Cool beans.

Rick! We definitely do not ignore you. You bring such smiles when you come. Smiling That's always a good thing.

I'm off to add to my list and check everyone else's for updates. Jim I'll have a look at yours and see what I can dig up for you. Smiling

RE http://garden.org/thread/view_... in the FAQ thread:

>> the little resealable ones in the bead department at Walmart.

I use Wal-Mart 2" x 3" Ziplocs too. I think DND recommended them for this swap. I know that I like the ability to see how many seeds are left, and the lack of insects! Being able to re-close them is great after I sow half and want to save the other half.

I seldom find anything cheaper online than one cent each. Some online vendors have better "zippers" or thicker plastic or clearer plastic, but few are cheaper! And you have to buy thousands to get them cheap and defray the shipping cost.

@DogsNDaylilies, would you approve of us offering 50 or 100 2x3" ZipLocs in the swap? They are bulky and would fill the Small Priority Package pretty fast. I forget - did you use the Priority Envelope to return seeds last time?

@RickCorey - I did use priority last time, but this time I think I'm going to use first class just to be sure that the costs don't go over the amount covered by the fees like it did last time; however, I *am* okay with you offering little bundles of the small baggies...maybe in quantities of up to 50? (I agree, 100 would be rather bulky and take up too much space, but I think bundles of 25 or 50 should work well. It's a good idea, and I just might offer some of mine, too, as a sample for people to try out and see how they like them. I purchased mine for $10 for 1,000, I believe, and that was the nicer, 3 mil, I believe. So it shouldn't be too expensive for others to purchase if they decide they like them.)

I'll list "50 2"x3" ZipLocs" and see if anyone wants them!

...

Done. They show up under "Z for Zip-Loc".
