This is a seedling of (Coral Crab X unknown). It's pleasantly plain. Not very exciting and I don't see much that's likely to change it. Expectations were low anyway and it's not doing anything especially aggravating - like canoeing on something that otherwise would be really nice! I think tossing is in its future.

Fred I did I search on HB20-15 and I seen it will be registered any ideas on any names yet? I hate doubles but love polys is this something you try to incorporate in your breeding or just chance blooms? I've read somewhere that some plants are more prone than others and was just wondering thanks in advance.

@needrain, I think your Coral Crab X unknown is a beauty! How tall? How big a bloom? It's sure not one I'd send to the compost bin!

It's about 16", but it got separated from its siblings and into the pot it's in very recently, so I seriously doubt that is the height it will reach as a mature plant. The bloom was probably between 4-5". It was marginally bigger than 'Coral Crab'. There are a number of seedlings with 'Coral Crab' as a parent that haven't bloomed yet

Daniel I do not breed for polys, I had about 12 or 15 from the cross and this was the only one that did it a lot. I did not select it because it polys, I love the color, great scape and its fertile both ways. No name yet.

Fred, is this typical for this seedling? (Or don't know yet?) If it is, can I claim dibs on a fan of this when you intro it? (Because you WILL introduce this, LoL! nodding ). I'm being atleast half serious, though.... If it poly's the majority of the time, with frequent 5-petal poly's, that's a daylily I want.
This is the normal about 80% of the time, the other 20% 6, 5, and normal 3Xs

Nice seedlings everyone!!!

Kyla, I would have never guessed that Phenomenal Phoenix x Rebekah's Gothic Spider would produce those kind of colors. Are those some of the free seed offers I gave out last year??? I'm sure I will have more to give away soon when I decided to stop selling seeds.

Fred, I Love the last two seedlings. Reblooming already is AMAZING! Love the patterns and teeth.

Hemlady, this is one of your seeds from 2012. Stargate portal x Orchid forest. I love it! It glows in the garden. Probably the contrast of blended complimentary colors Lovey dubby

Fred - Wonderful to see re-bloom scapes on your beauties! Hurray!

Angela - Oh! THAT one is very pretty! Looks a little like a Munson daylily with the watermark. I really like it a lot! Lovey dubby Thumbs up

Donald - I keep thinking to toss a few, but then the following year they do something that changes my mind .... such as bud building, fast increase, or great looking foliage.

After losing several of my favorite blooming seedlings this year, I have decided that they stay until they depart on their own accord. I am now looking at how hardy they are and how much they increase as well as good looking foliage. I can always breed fancy faces into a good overall plant.

A few of my newest seedlings blooming for the first time ever:

DDD07 (Navajo Princess x Beneficial Sister):

ZZZ32 (Cherry Custard Cheesecake x Palace Garden Beauty):

CCC131 (Trahlyta x unknown) - This one was a big surprise! At first I thought it had been mislabeled until I looked closely at the colors. It has the odd brownish-burgandy "Trahlyta" coloring in it. Who knows what the pollen parent is. A UF form parent most likely. :

Thumb of 2016-06-11/beckygardener/baa0d8

CCC67 - For comparison, here is my other possible Trahlyta seeding (seedling parentage unknown). Colors look very similar!

I had two seedlings I purchased from Tink's box sale a couple of years ago have their FFO.

This one has improved in its second year here, shortest of 7 scapes is 30", tallest is 36", and almost double the buds with mid 20's. I crossed it with Cretaceous Crunch.
Thumb of 2016-06-11/GDJCB/de3b71
This one is just a little better bud count, I may get rid of it, not sure I care for the brown/bronze color. Will wait and see I guess.

I got them from you, so yes... but I may have missed the correct label on that one. I am easily confused and will try to check it again. Could be Gudrid X Octarine -- I will see if I can straighten it out. *Blush*

@Hemlady, I think instead they were Flutterbye X Lavender Curls. Does this make more sense?

(This is what happens when you let somebody like me try to keep records. Sticking tongue out )

I probably should stop trying to assign parentage to these in posts, since clearly my marking system is not as easy to use as I hoped it would be. Blinking

Sadly after a week of perfect weather it has been raining from last night into the day and it looks like
the purple color doesn't do too well in the rain Sad
Still, it is it's first flower ever and my second blooming seedling ever, so I'll most probably hang on to it until I have a lot more pretty seedlings... Whistling

Hilarious!

@Mayo62
I think that bloom looks pretty good, Mayo. Do you think the discoloration on the sepals is caused by the rain? I get that a lot on purple and red blooms and it's especially bad on the first blooms on scapes, but I don't think it's usually caused by rain. For mine, I think it comes from sucking insects. I could make a bad pun here Big Grin , but I won't. And I've seen a LOT worse than it is in your photo!

Nice seedling bloom. It will likely improve with age, too!

Thrips like deep purple and red blooms. That it likely the cause of the spotting and decoloration.
