that was a very busy woman. after 10 years of shooting birds , I am fairly happy to just sit and watch their antics , most of the time.

Ann, great shots! I felt like I was watching it with you It looked like that adult bluebird was teaching the babies a little bit about manners and respecting your elders
IbisFla said:OK, weird bird picture for the day. Does he need a bird exorcist?
OMG! Take a look at that would you? Bring on the exorcist!
Thanks again you all.

So funny, he's young and doesn't know he's not an owl, I guess?
I've been trying all morning to get a picture of my new visitors, a pair of brown-headed cowbirds. I thought they had all migrated months ago, as they usually come through here in a flock and disappear but, these two must be lost. Anyway, this is the best pic I managed.
But my patience was rewarded anyway, as I caught the woodpecker and the dove drama over the seed cake. Here they are calmly eating on opposite corners of the cake, then they notice each other and Whoo, hoo! This time the dove took off and the woodpecker was left proudly in possession of the cake.
The blue jay family is still around. You can only tell the three young ones from the adults now because their bodies are slimmer and the adults have more black markings on their heads. Such beautiful plumage. Last photo is one of the parents.
Baby red-bellied woodpecker is still sort of gawky and very shy. He has hardly any red on his head just yet.

Not the US, Robin - we have places in England and France, and I just came back to England from France. It's been a bit hectic so I'm only just starting to catch up on all the posts I've missed. I've been back just one day and already I've seen various baby birds (and too many rabbits for the good of my plants!) I've found several new birds' nests in the garden.
Wow, some amazing photos, people! I'll go through them all again tomorrow (it's almost midnight here). But such fun to see all the antics and variety - not to mention some really excellent photos.
Elaine, great photos & too funny about the Woodpecker - Dove feud. I wonder who will win tomorrow?
Yep, it won't be long before those juvie blue jays are as striking as their parents. Great photos!
You termed it perfectly about the baby RB Woodpecker. It's just a silly looking kid yet.
