The only hybrid tea rose that I successfully grew in partial shade was Mr. Lincoln. I will have to wait till next Spring to reevaluate The Yellow. I'll keep you updated.

Neal thank you identifying Bishop's weed for me. The name of the rose is Cherry Parfait. I labeled all the photos - look to the bottom left side of each photo and you will find their names.

Neal, I'm not crazy about them. Naughty Nude suffered so much damage in shipping that it was essentially a one-cane wonder. Some new basal shoots did come up, but most of them died almost as soon as they sprang up. The other roses are okay, but I think they would have been three or four times their present size by now if they had come from Palatine. All are rather small and lopsided, so I suspect they were budded instead of being grafted and didn't have enough buds added.

In addition, their shipping costs are now through the roof. They started out saying that shipping to any state would be free. Then they charged shipping when they started taking orders, but it was a nominal sum. I paid $11.95 for four roses. This week I almost placed an order for another four roses, but this time the shipping would be $44.40. They're still charging me Arizona sales tax even though I'm not in Arizona and they don't have a branch in California. They also ignored the 10% discount they initially allowed. When I got to the final checkout page, the discount was gone, and the prices themselves had gone up. The amount was $103.56 on the first page of the checkout process and $192.36 on the final page. The upshot is that I would have paid $48.09 for each rose! Needless to say, I canceled the order at that point.

There's something else that may be indicative, depending on how pedantic you are (and I am highly pedantic!): As soon as they began building their website, I called them to tell them about two typos in the blurb that appears on every page of their site ("shurb" and "rejuvinate"). They thanked me profusely, said it was important to have everything perfect before opening day, and ... never corrected the typos. They're still there, on every page!

Zuzu - The total cost for me was $43 for each rose - pricey!
I am waiting on one more rose to be delivered from Burlington and I will be done for this year.

No rose is worth that much money to me, Margie, especially sight unseen and especially if they're still using the faulty packaging methods that caused so much damage during shipping the first time. I'll save my money and check the listings on Palatine this fall.

What are you getting from Burlington?

Thank you Sharlene. I am very glad I selected Plum Perfect - it's color to me is unique - kinda smokey gray antique like undertone.

Zuzu, I'm sorry to hear that, they seemed like such an exciting new prospect. Hopefully they will get their act together and hopefully your plants recover.

Thanks Margie, yesterday photos wouldn't expand for me and I overlooked the names, but today they expanded just fine. I love Plum Perfect too Lovey dubby

I agree. I placed a phone order and was told they would send me invoice because they had to figure out the cost of shipping. The roses were shipped in 2 separate boxes and than the 2 were inserted in one large box. They arrived in good condition and were planted. About 10 days later I received their invoice which included a $32 shipping cost (FedEx). Expensive, yes, but at least I got what appears 2 good roses one of which has not been offered here before (I think). Makes me feel a little bit better - lol
I ordered Vintage Visalia and President Herbert Hoover from Burlington. PHH will not arrive until next year - I have a space reserved. I have no more real estate left unless I decide to discard or something dies. I can't plant close together with high temps and humidity (need air circulation).
Zuzu I finally found the velcro tape online for my climbers - really excellent - thank you so much for your suggestion.

Thank you Taqiyyah and Sharlene. But I really have to send a big thank you to Lynn, Suzanne and Zulu for helping me select these beautiful roses. Their accurate evaluations and experience created my garden. It is such a pleasure to kick back, relax and take it all in.

At Kordes Rosen. This is La Villa Cotta.
Can't believe how fast that uploaded! I'm at a McDonalds in Elmshorn, with 3 minutes wifi allowed. I took so many pictures I filled the card in my phone. More later from the hotel, hopefully. Drove here in Friday traffic on the autobahn, curled my hair!!

What a gorgeous rose! I've never even heard of it. I hope Palatine carries it someday. I'll add it to the database so your picture will have someplace to go.

Your trip sounds so exciting. We want to see pictures of everything!
