For two years I talked myself out of acquiring Tech Colors. No space for lilies that I'm not using in my hybridizing program, I told myself. But I kept going back to it. From the orders that were coming in, It looked like I was going to have a very successful year in daylily sales this year. So I convinced myself that I could celebrate and squeeze Tech Colors in somewhere. I may even use it in my program, but I'll have to see how it performs in the next year or two before l give it a try.

Before we run out of July, here are a few more blooms from this month:

Malaysian Monarch

Nature's Strawberry Prism

Neon Rainbow

New Paradigm

Out of Nowhere

Persian Market

Party Array

Picotee Prism

Pink Stripes

Pirate's Smile

Quad Eye (an early '90s poly)

Raspberry Prism

Resistance is Futile

Rose F. Kennedy (Poor Rose. I loaded her up with 5 pods this season.)

Ruth Whitten (This is a hose-in-hose double that has proved valuable in creating polys.)

Ginny-- very nice choices. You should enjoy those daylilies!

Lisa-- your flowers look marvelous! I would like to stand in your backyard during peak season with my nose wide open. The daylilies and lilium scents ahhh! I would be a nosey neighbor! Literally!

Char--your garden is peaceful looking! It also looks like a proper garden!
I feel like I could see Mary Poppins floating down in there with her umbrella! Add a couple of swans and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Your daylilies are super too!

LarryR-- nice blooms as always!

Larry, nice blooms! How do you like Malaysian Monarch, Resistance is Futile, and Rose F. Kennedy? Have you hybridized with either Malasian Monarch or Resistance is Futile? Any thoughts on them as just flowers? How about hybridizing potential?

Larry R, I was hoping my Pink Stripes would bloom this year, had big plans for it but alas it did not bloom. I purchased it early enough in the spring but I believe our drought this summer has stunted it.

Wow Larry. Gorgeous blooms. I have New Paradigm blooming for the first time this year. Hope next year my blooms look as good as yours does. This was the best bloom so far this year and hope the colors are deeper next year. Do you fertilize?

Becky, I like Ruth Whitten because it has always been a perfect hose-in-hose with no extra tissue sticking out here and there. That's why I'm using it in my poly hybridizing program. So far one of the first seedlings from it is producing perfect poly blooms.

DND, Rose F. Kennedy is a dynamite pod producer for me. Malaysian Monarch and Resistance is Futile are new in my gardens this year, so I haven't had a chance evaluate them yet.

Cindy, the same thing happened to me with Pink Stripes. No blooms the first year.

Ginny, I do a foliar/basal feed three succeeding weeks in spring and then the plants are on their own. I use the new MiracleGro Liquafeed system. It's fast and easy: http://www.miraclegro.com/smg/... Be sure to watch the video. I'll do an inventory of all my daylily plants in August, so check my website in September for new listings. Love that hydrangea!

Hilary, just lovely. Thanks for introducing me to Promoted to Glory. It's now on my wish list.
