Good Morning everyone from a very soggy S.Florida. wow do I ever have a lot of weeding to do if the rain ever stops. I'm not complaining though we need as much as we can get. Doris I'm going to have to get some hints from you on pot size and garden mix; I've decided that my biggest failure is in growing D.R. in a pot. Since I suggested that you have so many you might try to grow one outdoors, I think I should take my own advice and try growing one indoors since I have way too many. Group hug

Jim if I put them outside for the summer they would do fine BUT I would definately have to dig them up for the winter, we get far too cold,
I use small pots, and I mix perlite, cactus mix, so water can go through them water them once a week.
this is Star of hope that I got from Brian

Very pretty Star of Hope, Doris.

And I neglected to say to Charleen that the fat bit at the bottom of one she showed us is as cute as can be.

OK, Mike, you frightened me! haha. I'm downloading my photos of the Arrival of the Purple Doubles right now- story coming soon!

A "Wilfred" I need to write to that guy, snail mail.

OK, my drama for the month. Or something.

Mike seemed to have an awful lot of the double purples, so I decided to take some off his hands. They got here yesterday. My, what a big box!!

Some perlite to soften the blow, I'll add my potting mix, this time it'll be about half and half perlite and peat. Or maybe more perlite than peat.

OK, this morning they got a little sunlight, tomorrow they go out under the overhang of the roof on the deck, where they'll get early morning sun, until about ten am. Let's all give a big cheer for these little guys, they've had a rough trip, and they're just babies. Another photo in a few weeks once they've leafed out.

Doris, Adenium_ko has two hundred and fifty choices!

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html...

wowee, if that doesn't work, look on the left side of the page, and find 'specify seller" and go from there, adenium_ko.

The grafted plant seller I buy from is kwarunee. She has a Triple Amazing Thailand for $20, and a Valentine Rose for $22.50.

Whew, I always get dizzy looking at all those flower pictures!

Hetty I thought the same thing when I got mine, then I thought maybe because they are grafted they didn't get very big.

sorry if you all did not understand the spreadsheet lists seedlings in one place but these are all grafted on 9 month old seedlings i showed a pic of this in the original thread The thread "Order thread for Adenium co-op" in Classifieds and Group Buys forum i explained somewhere a few times large growers just plant all there seeds ans graft on babies, what they dont use for grafts they sell as seedling ( NO GRAFTS ON SEEDLINGS) i also have on the pic grafted plants and seedlings. my supplier i find out is the 2nd largest in Thailand and works with Mr Ko they supply 87% of the adenium imported in the USA. i just get them from a different broker then others. My broker has people on 3 continents (Australia , north America, and Thailand)
Hetty
FCN supplier traces back to the same area of Thailand the difference she can order smaller amounts due to the fact i go threw a broker that imports only LARGE amounts so we pay very little in shipping compared to them. i pay pennies per plant to ship to Miami then my main up charge for shipping is fed ex overnight to me
I have am import permit now and can import but small amounts like 50 plants can be $700. in shipping only
My apologies if anyone misunderstood but i had it all explained and answered questions as they where asked I told all that seedlings we would not know what they would bloom as also due to they are seedlings not grafted plants!

The grafted plants were not supposed to be 5 years old.The 5 year olds were the seedlings.I would guess those grafted plants to be about a year old.

Hello, everyone.

I have a theory that the word "adenium" is a contraction of an ancient latin curse meaning: "I will make you sweat".

My little adenium looked great out of the box, with 4 green leaves. So, I potted it and set it outside, where it was 78-80F and a steady drizzle was falling. It drizzled for 2 or 3 days. The baby was under the eaves, so it didn't get constant drizzle; just enough to keep the soil nicely moist, but not soggy. And there's where the latin curse took hold. As of this morning, all 4 leaves fell off. But, I have been through stuff this before and I KNOW for a fact that it will perk right up. I am not sweating this one out.

Take care, all.
Sylvain.

Sylvain, I would gently take the plant out of the pot and shake off all the medium, to see what the roots/caudex look like. I hope you don't have a problem! Mine would be rotting, me sweat, too!

Mike! Great news, all the plants are growing. I am very nearsighted, when I'm wearing my 4X grocery store glasses, anyway, and I could see growth on all the little guys. I am NOT unhappy with the plants at all. They had a long strange trip to get here. I am reassuring them they'll never have to fly again, I hope I'm not lying!

A picture just to add some color to the thread...

Wow! They did go for a long, strange trip! I'm amazed that you can receive plants in the mail on a Caribbean island, I guess because it is the US Virgen's you have US mail? I'm a tad jealous, yes I am.
