That would be great, Frenchy. I'm trying to come up with plants for a pair of wall sconces.

Lisa, love your sconces! Great idea to plant them... do they get enough light for cactus plants or would a fern be better? There are some dwarf varieties of Boston fern.. If that's pothos in your photo, it looks good there!

I'd love a cutting of any pencil-type cactus that doesn't have sharp spines. Smiling

Ferns will do well in those lovely sconces. I agree with Jill on Boston fern. Asparagus fern (Asparagus setaceus, also Asparagus plumosus) will be a good choice too. It is elegant and produces very long branches draping over the edges of the sconces if you like that look.

Hoyas as well...not to mention if you planted a Hoya lacunosa you'd have the added bonus of a beautiful fragrance when in bloom.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
I have a small HB of Asparagus fern--probably VERY root-bound.
I have no interest in keeping it. Anyone want it?

***If no one saw it in this Thread--I am looking to get rid of my big "Queens Tears" [plant
as it has not bloomed in the whole time I have had it.
It is quite large....Please LMK if you are interested...*****

FYI:
Asparagus Ferns are sold at HD in early summer in 4" pots as "specialty Plants'--
those are used in lg. planters to drape down the pot....(the spillers)...

Gita, I'd love your asparagus fern.
Thanks for the input, friends. Ferns would be attractive in the sconces. Hadn't thought of them.
Jill, I can't remember name of plant I'm using now. It's not pothos, which I have used before. Leaves on this plant are thicker, waxy and more robust than pothos. Think I'm switching to ferns.

If not a pothos, it could be a philodendron (heart leafed, maybe), another good one for lower-light areas. I had a golden pothos that climbed all over my windowless basement office at school, watered only occasionally and lit only by fluorescent bulbs in the ceiling!

They are really really bad in my yard this year, too.

Big THANK YOU to Lisa for driving all the way up here to help me sort out the bulbs! We have a few things arriving late from Holland, waiting to hear back about their ETA. She left with Cam's cooler stuffed to the gills with everybody's bulbs, plus a few extras that we made available.

The extra BULBS from the group buy will be in a box near the "free to good home" table... they are not free, though... I'd like to use the honor system and ask people to simply pay for what they take, making a note of it and putting $ into the envelope. I'll put some extra PENS in the same box... extreme sharpies are $1.25 (the $1 ones have been claimed), silver sharpies are $1.

So sorry I didn't listen to voicemail until late!. We'll meet here between 10 and 11 am, thought we would leave here by 11 am to get us easily to swap by noon. Robin is going to follow me-- and Gita will ride with me and Mark.

I have 19 chrysalises here (and more cats) and expect to start tagging around Monday as they should start emerging. I have the 100 tags and have extra paper data sheets if anyone wants to tag some. Chrysalises are easy after all that feeding and cleaning of frass raising them.
Plant it and they will come.
