Robin if no one raises their hand my sis and son would love to give them a good home.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

I've begun to keep a list of foods/beverages people are bringing at the top of the swap food thread. So far we have:

Robin/Catmint: fried chicken
EvergreenMike: baked dessert
Robinbunch: tomato pie
Sally: black bean/corn salad or crispy coleslaw, and some brewed iced tea
Gita: Home made Garlic/Dill Pickles and yummy Potato salad

(Sally: psst, I love black bean/corn salad...)

Robin - DonnaJ may be joining me.

My apologies however my rooting skills apparently are limited to Jasmines. Those of you that place dibs on my gardenia and virburmum - I can bring fresh cuttings but it does not look like any of them are rooting unfortunately.

I'm a "definite!" There was a possibility I'd be out of town that week, but there were too many things going on here. Joyanna will join me, I'm sure.

I'll see if I can at least bring her friend Sarah along, hopefully also my friend Martina (Sarah's mom) and possibly also her younger daughter , Angela. With 5 kids spread out in age, their schedule is never certain in advance, but I'll make sure she at least has it penciled in! I'll check with Theresa, too. Both she and Martina "should" be online with us, but so far I've only convinced them to participate in our seed and plant swaps...

Gita, if you have an extra 'Bonnie' spider, i'll be happy to grow it on for a bit and find it a home, maybe in Joyanna's classroom. I appreciate your bringing one for me, too!

I'm not sure what I'll bring for food... I will check the list to see what might "fit." Hmm, how about a rice dish... I could bring it in the rice cooker, which stays warm pretty well. Could be tex-mex, with salsa and corn and red beans, or it could be something more random, maybe a multigrain dish (rice, barley, quinoa) with onion, eggplant, and "hot & spicy" basil that we created last spring. Either of those would be gluten-free, for those who might want that option. Joyanna and I might be practicing for the Frederick Fair, also, so you can expect something baked (and probably not gluten free), like pumpkin bread.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Jill--Re "Bonnie" spiders...

So far--I now have 4 requested. THis includes you, Joyanna-and "Frenchie"--2. Total of 4.
I think that will have to be "IT". Is one for Joyanna--or just a second one for you, Jill?

Funny---There was one (in a 6" HB pot) for sale at my HD yesterday. Sometimes we DO get them in...
I told the customer I was with to better get it...

Originally, she lamented to me that you NEVER see the old Swedish Ivy any more!!! Sighing!
OH--there are variations of it that people call Swedish Ivy--but none of them are the original.
bright green/shiny, round- leafed ones we all had ages ago.

I said--you are right! BUT--if you come to my place--I will give you some of it.
I said that I have kept Swedish ivy going, by rooting cuttings, for 30 or more years.
We talked for about 45 minutes... She is a teacher and is coming over at 5PM.

I will tell her, tongue in cheek, that it is now HER responsibility to keep this plant going
(long after i am gone)...like my Epis..my Braz. Plume--my Clivias-- CC's-- Pregnant Onions--etc...etc...

****NOT offering the SW. Ivy for the swap!!!! Sorry!

Maybe later--one-on-one...they are VERY easy to root.
THAT is how I make new garden-friends .. Hurray! Hurray!

Just a while ago--you said you really wanted a "Golden Showers tree."
I cannot find the post any more--but i waanted to tell you that, in 8/08 a group of us

On their vast property--they had this tree. You called itsomething else???

Just fyi--in case you ever go there, maybe you can snatch a seed pod or something.

Gita, if somebody else wants a 'Bonnie', I'm fine with one. It'll eventually throw spiders, and Joyanna can take one of those to her classroom.

Cute story about your new gardening friend. I'm keeping a pot of your swedish ivy going!

Thanks!

I just added a succulent called Crassula hottentot to my swap tool list, thanks to a donation from my youngest daughter. I believe this is an indoor plant in our area.
